The apparatus has first and second laser emitters which generate laser radiation having first and second wavelengths, respectively, the first wavelength being different from the second wavelength. Optical devices are disclosed, including a beam splitter, which splits the laser radiation of the laser emitters in each case into a reference radiation and an illuminating radiation. The illuminating radiation impinges upon the object to be measured, is reflected by the object as object radiation and interferes with the reference radiation. A detector receives the interference patterns. The laser emitters are located such that the illuminating radiation of the first and second laser emitters impinge upon the object at different angles of incidence. Also discussed is a measuring device which measures the two wavelengths of the laser radiation of the laser emitters and influences the recording of the interference patterns.

The holographic storage system includes a special optical filter or a special light source for emphasizing the high frequency components of a reference beam and/or an object beam. This is achieved by an optical filter arranged in a Fourier plane, which has a higher attenuation at the center than at the edge. Alternatively, an adapted light source for generating the reference beam and/or the object beam is arranged in a Fourier plane. The light beam emitted by the light source has a higher intensity close to the edge than at the center.

A holographic display device comprises a first OLED array writing onto a first OASLM, the first OLED array and the first OASLM forming adjacent layers, and a second OLED array writing onto a second OASLM, the second OLED array and the second OASLM forming adjacent layers. The first and the second OASLMs encode a hologram and a holographic reconstruction is generated by the device when an array of read beams illuminates the first and second OASLMs and the first and second OASLMs are suitably controlled by the first and second OLED arrays. Advantages include that this device permits independent control of phase and amplitude, and the device lends itself to compactness.
