Abstract:
In some embodiments, a printed circuit board (PCB) comprises a substrate comprising an insulating material. The PCB further comprises a plurality of conductive tracks attached to at least one surface of the substrate. The PCB further comprises a multi-layer coating deposited on the at least one surface of the substrate. The multi-layer coating (i) covers at least a portion of the plurality of conductive tracks and (ii) comprises at least one layer formed of a halo-hydrocarbon polymer. The PCB further comprises at least one electrical component connected by a solder joint to at least one conductive track, wherein the solder joint is soldered through the multi-layer coating such that the solder joint abuts the multi-layer coating.
Abstract:
This invention provides method and apparatus (100) for detecting small glass particles (12) in bottles (1) filled with beer (10). The beer (10) is caused to rotate with respect to the bottle (1), and successive images are obtained from the bottle by means of a CCD-camera (40) which is arranged such that its optical axis (41) makes an angle alpha of about 135 DEG with the axis (13) of the bottle (1), which is illuminated from below. The successive images are subtracted from each other to detect refracted light emanating from glass particles. These measurements are repeated a plurality of times. The invention thus offers an improvement in sensitivity and reliability of a detecting method. An apparatus (100) comprises a carousel (103) with a plurality of cameras dedicated to a single bottle. A system is described to reduce costs by having eight cameras share one image processing unit.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for acquiring a two-dimensional image of the external surface of a three-dimensional object (3) comprising: - displacing means (5) for supporting and displacing the object (3); - a single camera (15) for capturing images of portions of the object surface; - rotating means (10) for rotating the object (3), whereby the single camera (15) is able to capture images corresponding to successive exposed portions (3a) of the object surface. The single camera (15) is configured to sequentially capture the images as respective single frames and the apparatus further comprises electronic processing means adapted to • read out a sub-frame from the single frame, • store said sub-frames; and • assemble the successive sub-frames into an assembled frame corresponding to a two-dimensional image of an unpeeled surface area of the object. The invention also relates to a corresponding method of acquiring a two-dimensional image of the external surface of a three-dimensional object (3).
Abstract:
A foaming device for a drink including a housing defining an internal volume for housing secondary liquid and a source of foaming gas. A nozzle communicates between the internal volume and an exterior of the housing and a plug seals the nozzle so as to prevent communication between the internal volume and the exterior of the housing. By releasing the plug, the secondary liquid can be released into the drink such that the foaming gas forms bubbles of secondary liquid in the drink and proteins/constituents within one or both of the primary liquid and the secondary liquid denature so as to create a stable foam.
Abstract:
A feature recognition system and a method for identifying features of human tissue. This may use the diffraction of coherent or partially coherent light that is reflected or transmitted from the tissue. The tissue is illuminated with light from a source of substantially coherent light. A diffraction pattern image produced by reflection of the substantially coherent light from the tissue is captured by an image sensor. The captured diffraction pattern image is analysed to search for at least one pattern.

Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for handling capsules in a capsule processing equipment, comprising - a hopper (25) for containing a bulk of capsules, said hopper having an upper portion with an upper inlet (31) for feeding the capsules; and - a conveying belt (37) for transferring the capsules from the hopper (25) within the processing equipment (1), said conveying belt (37) travelling in an inclined travel direction (D) for receiving capsules from the hopper (25), the belt (37) being provided with successive cavities adapted to accommodate a single capsule. The apparatus is adapted to singulate capsules in the cavities of the conveying belt (37) from the bulk, into a pre-defined and repeatable position. The invention also relates to a capsule processing equipment, such as an inspection equipment (1) or a capsule printing equipment comprising such an apparatus.
Abstract:
An electrical or electro-optical assembly comprising a substrate comprising an insulating material, a plurality of conductive tracks present at least one surface of the substrate, at least one electrical or electro-optical component connected to at least one conductive track, and a continuous coating comprising a plasma-polymerized polymer completely covering the at least one surface of the substrate, the plurality of conductive tracks and the at least one electrical or electro-optical component.
Abstract:
A body fluid sampling system (100) is provided. In one embodiment, the system may comprise a penetrating member driver (110); a plurality of penetrating members sufficient for penetrating tissue; a tape coupling together at least two of the penetrating members; and a penetrating member release device (106) removing the penetrating member from a sterile environment prior to use and moving the penetrating member into position to be operatively coupled to the penetrating member driver. The driver (110) may comprise of a drive force generator for advancing the penetrating member and a processor coupled to the drive force generator capable of changing the direction and magnitude of force exerted on the penetrating member during the lancing cycle. The driver may further include a human interface on the housing providing at least one output for communicating with the patient.
Abstract:
The invention is concerned with controlled release packaging comprising packaging material which is at least partially or substantially completely dispersible or dissolvable in an effective amount of a water-containing substance and which is adapted to comprise, contain or enclose one or more substances wherein the packaging is adapted for release of comprised, contained or enclosed substances in response to a predetermined stimulus in predetermined manner to a desired locus with substantially simultaneous or subsequent partial or complete dispersal or dissolving thereof.
