    Abstract: The present invention provides a modular pressure vessel mounting apparatus and methods for using the same in transporting or storing pressure vessels. In particular, the module pressure vessel mounting apparatus comprises:



    a plurality of top sleeves (200A);
    a plurality of bottom sleeves (200B);
    a top-plate (300A) configured to fit said plurality of said top sleeves (200A);
    a bottom-plate (300B) configured to fit said plurality of said bottom sleeves (200B); and
    a restraining device (400) configured to hold each of the pressure gas vessels between each of said top sleeves (200A) and each of said bottom sleeves (200B).

    Typically, a plurality of pressure vessels are placed between the top-plate (300A) and the bottom-plate (300B) by placing a top sleeve (200A) and a bottom sleeve (200B) between the neck of the pressure vessel and the top-plate (300A) and the bottom of the pressure vessel and the bottom-plate (300B), respectively. The pressure vessels are then held in place using the restraining device (400), which prevents movement of pressure vessels within the module pressure vessel mounting apparatus (10).

    Abstract: Underground facilities built for storing electric energy in the form of gravity and buoyant energy are described herein. In one embodiment, the facility is disposed in a thixotropic fluid beneath the ground surface and houses water to maintain a positive buoyancy and a piston having a bulk density greater than the water. In another embodiment, the underground facility is configured as a buoyant capsule arranged in a cylinder filled with water, where the cylinder is sealed except for openings in a bottom half of the cylinder to allow near unimpeded water flow from a location inside to a location outside of the cylinder. In another embodiment, the underground facility is configured as a negatively buoyant capsule.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides mounting plates having a mounting portion adjacent to a plurality of fastening regions and a flexing portion adjacent to a mounting feature. The fastening regions can be connected to a frame system. The mounting feature can be connected to an end of a pressurized tank. The end of the pressurized tank can move relative to the frame system and the mounting plate can flex such that the flexing portion moves out of the plane of the fastening region to accommodate the motion of the end of the pressurized tank. Connection to the end of the pressurized tank can be provided at a tank collar than can be bonded or threadably connected to the mounting plate via a connection mechanism. The connection mechanism can be an expandable plug or a sleeve that connects to the tank collar.

    Abstract: A precast, prestressed concrete tank and method that facilitates construction of a primary inner tank within a secondary outer tank, and which permits for the construction of the primary inner tank after the secondary outer tank has been erected, but without requiring insertion through a top of the secondary outer tank, or by tunneling underneath the secondary outer tank, is disclosed. The primary inner tank has an inner wall and the secondary outer tank has an outer wall (precast, prestressed concrete) and wire windings. The primary inner tank is disposed inside of the secondary outer tank. The secondary outer tank has a plurality of first precast outer wall panels, and a temporary construction opening frame. The temporary construction opening frame defines an access doorway during construction of the tank. The temporary construction opening frame is disposed on a foundation base slab.
