Abstract: A joining system (100) of the present invention is for joining a joining target (W) including first, second, and third members (W1), (W2), (W3), and includes a welder (101), a friction stir welding machine (102), and a controller (110) that: (A) causes the welder (101) to weld the second and third members (W2), (W3); (B), after (A), causes the joining target (W) to be placed at the friction stir welding machine (102) so that the first member (W1) is opposed to a distal end of a tool (10); and (C), after (B), controls a linear motion driver (7) and a rotation driver (8) so as to, while pressing the distal end of the tool (10) to the joining target (W), rotate the tool (10) around an axis, so that the softened second and third members (W2), (W3) intrude into the softened first member (W1), thus joining the joining target (W).

Abstract: A device for performing a method for producing a lamination pack, wherein in the method laminations are cut from an electric strip or sheet; the laminations are placed on top of each other to form a lamination stack; the laminations are connected by material fusion to each other by: locally plasticizing a material of the laminations in an edge region of the laminations by generating friction heat by a tool; mixing the locally plasticized material, at least of the laminations neighboring each other, with the tool; and allowing the plasticized material to cool and fuse the laminations in the edge region to form the lamination pack. The device has a punch press and/or a receptacle for one or a plurality of lamination stacks. The device further has a welding tool that is rotatably driven about an axis of the welding tool and moveable transverse to the axis of rotation.

Abstract: Systems and methods suitable for shaping and cutting materials. Such a system includes first and second carriage units that are independently operable to travel in a travel direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of a table supporting the material. The first and second carriage units have first and second arms, respectively. A cutting device coupled to the first arm forms a slit in the material, and a deburring device coupled to the second arm forcibly removes burrs from the slit. The deburring device is behind the cutting device relative to the travel direction and forcibly removes burrs in the travel direction toward a breakthrough point of the slit. The second carriage unit oscillates parallel to the travel direction so that the deburring device moves toward and away from the breakthrough point of the slit to remove burrs at the breakthrough point.

Abstract: A method for the preparation of steel sheets for fabricating a welded steel blank is provided. The method includes procuring at least two pre-coated steel sheets, each having a pre-coating of an intermetallic alloy layer, topped by a layer of aluminum metal or aluminum alloy or aluminum-based alloy. The sheets have a principal face, an opposite principal face, and at least one secondary face. The sheets are positioned so a gap between 0.02 and 2 mm exists between the secondary faces. The secondary faces face each other. The positioning of the first and second sheets defines a median plane perpendicular to the principal faces. Layers of metal alloy are removed by melting and vaporization simultaneously on the principal faces, in a peripheral zone of the sheets, the peripheral zones being the zones of the principal faces closest in relation to the median plane.
