    摘要： An apparatus (31) and a method are disclosed for temporarily separating multiple webs (51,53) while performing an operation (123,125,133) thereon, including the feeding of multiple webs (51,53), the provision of a retractable web separator (68) for temporarily separating the webs, the performance of an operation (123,125,133)) upon the webs, the provision of a gripping device (65) for gripping the webs and assisting in moving the webs (51,53) along a predetermined path (83), and the provision of a sealing device (71) for sealing the webs together to form a package seal (73). The retractable separators (68) are mounted on a conveyor (83) and each separator (68) in turn temporarily separates the webs (51,53), for insertion of a port (45), fitting or the like, whereupon the separator (68) may be retracted and the port (45) may be sealed into the packages (41) being manufactured. The preferred separator (68) has a shaped head (170) on the end of a reciprocating shaft (158). The head (170) may be enlarged and may have a tapered end (171) for insertion between the webs (51,53).

The tube body that has been filled with product is horizontally sealed, and the horizontal seal portion that has been thus formed is cut to produce a two-ply bag package.

    摘要： A device and method for repositioning sliders on profiled resiliently flexible zipper on bag sections of bag making material travelling along a manufacturing path. The device may comprise a frame, two movable rollers cooperatively opposed to one another mounted on free ends of arms which are pivoted and adapted for moving the rollers toward and away from one another. When the rollers are in close adjacency they are adapted to restrain the sliders for a predetermined interval while the zipper travels on with the bag making material whereby to reposition the slider properly with respect to transverse bag side sealing of the bag sections. The rollers are operable to shift the sliders in opposite directions along the zipper in the cyclical operation of the associated apparatus, whereby to test proper functioning of the sliders. The rollers are also adapted to function selectively as zipper closing rollers, or to leave the zipper open while functioning to reposition the sliders on the bag section portions of the zipper.

    摘要： A method and an apparatus for automatically feeding slider-zipper assemblies to a station where the slider-zipper assemblies can be attached to bag material such as thermoplastic film. The apparatus includes a slider guide having a channel running the length thereof. The channel has a cross section that allows passage therethrough of sliders slidably mounted to a tape of connected slider-zipper assemblies. A tape drive mechanism is located at the outlet of the slider guide. The tape drive mechanism includes a pair of rollers that form a nip therebetween. The zipper flanges of the tape are threaded through the nip. The rollers have respective grooves that form a space for passage of the sliders as the tape is advanced by the rollers.

    摘要： Methods for forming a thermoplastic film with an attached closure strip are disclosed. The film can be used to produce zippered reclosable plastic bags. The methods include providing a thermoplastic film web having a sealing surface and a closure strip having a binding surface, both being in a non-melted condition. The film web and the closure strip are aligned in non-overlapping relationship and a heated thermoplastic binder layer is positioned on the film web sealing surface and on the closure strip binding surface quickly after extrusion. The hot binder layer transfers enough heat to the closure strip and to the film web to melt the closure strip binding surface and the film web sealing surface. Pressure is applied to seal the closure strip to the film web. An apparatus for practicing the method and a reclosable bag formed from the thermoplastic film with attached closure strips are also disclosed.
