Abstract: A contact lens includes a body, having the plurality of monomers including at least some silicone monomer units including at least one zwitterionic distributed throughout the body. The contact lens includes a front surface and a back surface, where the silicone monomer including at least one zwitterionic group can be present in a greater concentration nearest the front surface than the back surface or a point therebetween. The contact lens can be formed by casting a polymer mixture containing the silicone monomer including at least one zwitterionic group.

Abstract: A roofing membrane and a method of making the same is provided. The roofing membrane includes a top layer having a flame retardant and a first silane-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer with a density less than 0.90 g/cm3; a scrim layer; and a bottom layer having a flame retardant and a second silane-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer with a density less than 0.90 g/cm3. The top and bottom layers of the roofing membrane both exhibit a compression set of from about 5.0% to about 35.0%, as measured according to ASTM D 395 (22 hrs @ 70° C.).

Abstract: Provided is a copolymer having a carbosiloxane dendrimer structure, where the amount of monomers having a carbosiloxane dendrimer structure is significantly reduced. Also provided is a composition, cosmetic raw material, film-forming agent, and a cosmetic material comprising the copolymer, as well as a method of manufacturing the copolymer and the like. The copolymer is a copolymer of (a1) an unsaturated monomer having a carbosiloxane dendrimer structure having a radically polymerizable organic group, and (a2) an unsaturated monomer having a radically polymerizable vinyl group, which is different from component (a1). The amount of unreacted unsaturated monomers (a1) and saturated monomers derived from the unreacted unsaturated monomers (a1) is 2500 ppm or less relative to the copolymer.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention, a dental curable composition includes: polymerizable monomers; inorganic particles (A1) and/or inorganic particles (A2) (excluding the inorganic particles (A2); and inorganic particles (B). The inorganic particles (A1) are surface-treated with a compound expressed by a general formula (1) and have a volume-median particle size of greater than or equal to 0.1 μm and less than or equal to 0.9 μm. The inorganic particles (A2) are surface-treated with a compound expressed by a general formula (2) and have a volume-median particle size of greater than or equal to 0.1 μm and less than or equal to 0.9 μm. The inorganic particles (B) are particles where a group expressed by a general formula (A) is present at surfaces, are particles where a group expressed by a general formula (B) is present at surfaces, and/or are particles surface-treated with a compound expressed by a general formula (3) and have an average primary particle size of greater than or equal to 5 nm and less than or equal to 50 nm. A ratio of a mass of the inorganic particles (B) to a total mass of the inorganic particles (A1), the inorganic particles (A2), and the inorganic particles (B) is greater than or equal to 0.001 and less than or equal to 0.015.

Abstract: A shoe sole composition and method for making a shoe sole are provided. The shoe sole includes a composition comprising a foamed silane-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer having a density less than 0.50 g/cm3. The shoe sole exhibits a compression set of from about 5.0% to about 20.0%, as measured according to ASTM D 395 (6 hrs @ 50° C.). The foamed silane-crosslinked polyolefin elastomer can be produced from a blend including a first polyolefin having a density less than 0.86 g/cm3, a second polyolefin, having a crystallinity less than 40%, a silane crosslinker, a grafting initiator, a condensation catalyst, and a foaming agent.
