Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) configuration in distributed remote radio head (RRH) systems are described. A transmission point selection module can receive a user equipment (UE) signal via a transmission point from a plurality of transmission points sharing a single cell identification. A downlink transmission point can be selected based on the UE signal. The UE can then be configured to report CSI-RS measurements for the selected downlink transmission point.
Abstract:
Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP) involves multiple transmission points or cells coordinating their individual transmissions so that a target user equipment (LTE) experiences enhanced signal reception and/or reduced interference. In order to optimally implement downlink CoMP, a serving cell needs to obtain channel state information (CSI) for the downlink channels from the multiple transmission points to the UE. This disclosure deals with radio resource control (RRC) signaling for configuring the UE to obtain and report CSI for those downlink channels.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for providing opportunistic carrier aggregation to short range or low power extension carriers are generally disclosed herein. One embodiment includes data traffic offload techniques to offload data communicated in a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) from a primary cell to a secondary cell. For example, the primary cell may be provided by a LTE/LTE-A base station operating in licensed spectrum, and the secondary cell may be provided by a low-power extension carrier operating in unlicensed spectrum using a LTE/LTE-A standard. The low-power extension carrier may be activated as needed to off-load data transfers from the primary cell, in download-only, upload-only, and time-division LTE (TD-LTE) modes. Configurations involving multimode base stations, multimode user equipment (UE), relay extension carriers, and remote radio equipment are also described herein, in conjunction with deployment of opportunistic carrier aggregation using extension carriers.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for supporting multicast device-to-device communications are described herein. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a request to a serving evolved Node B (eNodeB) for permission to transmit to a group of peer UEs. The UE may receive a resource assignment in response to the request. The resource allocation assignment may specify a group identifier. The group identifier may identify a group including the UE and the group of peer UEs. The UE may transmit a multicast transmission to the group of peer UEs using a resource assigned by the eNodeB with the resource assignment.
Abstract:
Technology for enabling radio resource management (RRM) measurements in coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission and reception is disclosed. One method comprises sending, from an evolved node B (eNB) to a user equipment (UE), an information element (IE) containing a list of measurement objects that define configurations of channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) based RRM measurements. The eNB can analyze the CSI-RS based RRM measurements in a CoMP Resource Management (CRM) Set, wherein each CSI-RS based RRM measurement corresponds to a transmission point in a set of transmission points which may be used for downlink transmissions to the UE. The eNB can select a CoMP Measurement Set based on the CSI-RS based RRM measurements reported by the UE, comprising at least one of the set of transmission points for which fast channel state information (CSI) feedback will be reported to the eNB from the UE.

Abstract:
An apparatus may include a radio frequency (RF) transceiver to receive a first message over a first carrier in a first band in a downlink sub-frame of a first radio frame in a communications link, where the communications link comprises interband carriers aggregated over primary and secondary cells. The apparatus may also include a processor and a reply message assignment module operable on the processor to determine a downlink sub-frame in which the downlink transmission is received and to adjust timing of a reply/acknowledge message to be sent by the RF transceiver in response to the first message so as to coincide with a predetermined uplink sub-frame of a radio frame. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
Disclosed embodiments may include an apparatus having one or more processors coupled to one or more computer-readable storage media. The one or more processors may be configured to transmit and/or receive channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resource configuration information, demodulation reference signals (DM-RS), uplink sounding reference signals (SRS), and power control parameters to support uplink coordinated multi-point (CoMP) operations. Other embodiments may be disclosed.
Abstract:
Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, a mobile station receives a location beacon transmitted from multiple base stations based on a transmission plan for a predefined downlink location based services zone in the superframes of a signal frame structure. The transmission plan includes spreading transmissions of the location beacon that are unique to respective base stations. The mobile station identifies the base stations based on the respective location beacons and the transmission plan. The mobile station identifies a present location based on the location beacons and the identities of the base stations that from which the location beacons were received.
Abstract:
Embodiments of an apparatus, system and method are described for a base station. Notification from a mobile station in a network may be received. A multi-carrier advertisement with a base station multi-carrier configuration may be sent. The base station multi-carrier configuration may include at least one carrier index associated with a carrier frequency operated on by the base station. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
