    Abstract: An image reading apparatus for generating image data corresponding to a document image, includes: an irradiating section for irradiating light rays to an image bearing surface of a document; a housing formed with a slit for restrictedly passing light rays reflected from the image bearing surface of the document; a photoelectric conversion element for converting an optical image made of the light rays having passed through the slit of the housing to an electric signal; and an optical system for guiding the light rays having passed through the slit of the housing to the photoelectric conversion element. The housing has a light restrictor at each of the both ends of the slit. The light restrictor projects toward the image bearing surface of the document to thereby keep light rays reflected from an area outside a reading area of the image bearing surface of the document from entering the slit.

    Abstract: An optical filter is provided on photoelectric conversion elements for monochrome reading. Each of a reflecting optical system and the optical filter has an end portion and a central portion in a predetermined direction. The optical filter suppresses light at a peak wavelength of a light source such that a difference between a sensitivity of optical path via the end portion of the reflecting optical system and the optical filter and a sensitivity of optical path via the central portion of the reflecting optical system and the optical filter fall within a range of 5% at the peak wavelength of light source.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a scanner's optical device, for receiving the light coming from the image of an object being scanned, comprising: several reflective mirrors, a light-focusing module, and a charge coupled device. The reflective mirrors provide reflection and directional change for the light and, by appropriately arranging several reflective mirrors, the light of the object being scanned directionally changed to a predetermined route. With at least one curving mirror, the light-focusing module focuses the light of the predetermined route and then directionally changes it, and a raster is then provided in the light route of the curving mirror for filtering out unnecessary light. The charge coupled device receives the light coming from the light-focusing module and converts it into electronic signals. The said light-focusing module replaces the prior art lens set for executing a scanning job.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a scanning module, which is capable of integrating optical paths of illuminating and imaging for size reduction, and improving the quality of scanned image by using optical polarizers for filtering, and further achieving the same effect as the “projection scanning” digital camera. The scanning module comprises: a light source, a first polarizer, a quarter-wave plate, a polarizing beamsplitter, an image detection device, and a second polarizer. The light from the light source consists of both a first-polarized and a second-polarized light. The first polarizer is placed in front of the light source that only allows the first-polarized light to pass through. The optics unit directs the first-polarized light to a scanning object and transforms the reflected light into the second-polarized light before receiveded by the image detection device for image acquiring. The second polarizer is placed between the optics unit and the image detection device for allowing only the second-polarized light to pass through such that the influence on the image detection device from the light source can be eliminated.
