The outer elastomer layer includes a non-woven fabric having polyether urethane fibers and one of (1) a carbon allotrope material aligned with at least one of the polyether urethane fibers and (2) a polyester urethane composition located on a portion of the non-woven fabric. A method of forming a layer of a deicer boot includes forming a polyether urethane elastomer sheet having a brittle point lower than −40° C. (−40° F.) and incorporating the polyether urethane elastomer sheet onto an aircraft structure.

Abstract: The invention provides a method of preparing a filter medium by thermally bonding silver-coated spunbonded nonwoven fabrics to a dirt-retaining membrane, a chemical-retaining membrane, a pathogen-retaining membrane, or a combination thereof. The invention also relates to the use of one or more silver-coated spunbonded nonwoven fabric layers as a component of a microorganism-killing membrane in filter media for a fluid filtration system. The filter media of the invention offers efficient disinfection effects, maintaining a low pressure drop and a high flow rate when in use. Further, the filter media is adhesive free and contains at least one thermal binding layer made of spunbonded nonwoven polymeric fabrics. The invention also features a water-purification cartridge and the use thereof in a potable water system.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for ice protection heater assemblies, and related methods of fabrication and use. More particularly, the present disclosure provides for chordwise ice protection heater assemblies for aircraft or the like. The heater assemblies provide that the heater zones for the ice protection heater assembly are designed such that the electricity mainly flows along the chord of the aircraft component (e.g., wing). This puts the electrical connection points above and below as well as behind the stagnation point of the aircraft component. The electrical connection points are thus behind the area to be protected from icing via the heater assembly.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a stainless steel component, the method including texturizing a stainless steel substrate by bead blasting to provide a texturized stainless steel. The stainless steel substrate includes grade 316 austenitic stainless steel. The method also includes treating the texturized stainless steel with a passivation solution to provide a passivated stainless steel. The method further includes treating the passivated stainless steel with an oxidizing solution including sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide at a temperature of about 130 to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 50 minutes to provide an antimicrobial stainless steel surface that is free of a separate coating. The method includes obtaining at least 99.9% E. coli reduction as measured by JIS Z 2801:2010 test on the antimicrobial stainless steel without a separate coating.
