    摘要: A fuel injection system is described for injecting slurry fuels into the combustion chamber of a diesel engine, equipped with a fuel common rail, and fitted with a gas to fuel contactor chamber for dissolving supplementary atomizing gas into the continuous phase of the slurry fuel, at high pressure. Each fuel injector comprises a combined double valve for starting and stopping fuel injection, so that slurry fuel containing atomizing gas is only depressurized when injected into the engine combustion chamber, when such depressurization greatly improves fuel atomization and combustion efficiency. In this way small bore, high speed, diesel engines can be efficiently operated on high viscosity, low cost fuels such as tars from tar sands, tars from coal and biomass, and residual petroleum fuels.

    摘要: A system for retrofitting an internal combustion engine to use a proportion of hydrogen gas and existing fossil fuel is disclosed. The system is comprised of a source of hydrogen gas and means for delivering hydrogen gas to the combustion chamber of the engine. The engine operating parameters are adjusted and the delivery of hydrogen is controlled to provide selective introduction of hydrogen gas throughout the engine's operating cycle. The source of hydrogen gas can comprise an onboard hydrogen reformer, or hydrogen and carbon monoxide can be reformed inside the cylinder from an on board carrier of hydrogen. A single point injector placed at the intake manifold in close proximity to the engine intake valve can be used to mix the hydrogen gas to the air/fossil fuel mixture or sequential injectors can deliver hydrogen in close proximity to each engine intake valve, or directly into each cylinder.

    摘要: A bi-fuel control system and assembly for modifying and operating a diesel engine to the extent that the engine is capable of running in either a full diesel fuel mode or a bi-fuel mode, where bi-fuel is defined as a mixture of a methane based gas and diesel fuel. The control system and assembly are designed to provide for either manual or automatic transfer between modes for continuous engine operation without interruption in output and at substantially equivalent efficiency levels. A gas control sub-system and sub-assembly are provided to control the amount of gas supplied to the diesel engine in the bi-fuel mode, and an electronic control sub-system and sub-assembly are provided to control the overall system and assembly based on engine load as determined from the intake manifold air pressure.

    摘要: The solid particulate fuel is first dried and then liquified to a viscous state at 300.degree. C within an inert atmosphere in a melting tank. Thereafter, while the heat is retained in the fuel, the liquified fuel is pumped to a heater and heated to a higher temperature of 400.degree. C. This hot fuel is then delivered via switching means to the cylinders of the internal combustion engine while the temperature of the fuel is maintained.
