摘要: An engine diagnostic tool includes a diagnostic engine calibration module structured to include a plurality of diagnostic processes for operating an internal combustion engine system of an immobilized vehicle. One or more of the plurality of diagnostic processes are structured to be an intrusive diagnostic process for the internal combustion engine system, wherein the intrusive diagnostic process causes the internal combustion engine system to operate outside of one or more calibration parameters. The diagnostic engine module is further structured to control the order and timing of each diagnostic process in the plurality of diagnostic processes.

摘要: An apparatus includes a stationary conditions circuit structured to received information indicative of a stationary condition of a vehicle having an exhaust aftertreatment system; an engine circuit structured to cause an elevated operating mode in response to the detection of the stationary condition; and a nitrous oxide (NOx) monitor reset circuit. The NOx monitor reset circuit may be structured to: receive vehicle operation data indicative of an enable condition for a NOx monitor reset process; in response to the enable condition, receive NOx data indicative of a NOx amount exiting the exhaust aftertreatment system as part of the NOx monitor reset process; compare the NOx data to an estimated NOx amount; and in response to the comparison, selectively diagnose the exhaust aftertreatment system as one of a healthy and a degraded exhaust aftertreatment system.

The system further includes a controller that is structured to functionally execute operations to enhance the temperature of the aftertreatment system. The controller includes an operating condition monitoring module that interprets a temperature value at a position upstream of a catalyst positioned in the aftertreatment system. The controller further includes an operating condition management module that interprets a threshold temperature value, and an engine management module that provides an engine operation command to continue engine operation in response to the temperature value being at least equal to the threshold temperature value.

摘要: A mixture pilot control for operating an internal combustion engine, in particular a gasoline engine of a motor vehicle, is provided. The mixture pilot control determines at least one composition of an air-fuel mixture required for a predetermined target air-fuel mixture ratio. The internal combustion engine is also provided with a lambda control with at least one lambda probe arranged in the exhaust gas flow of the internal combustion engine for determining a deviation of the actual air-fuel ratio from the predetermined target air-fuel ratio. Operating-parameter-dependent correction factors for the composition of the air-fuel mixture by the mixture pilot control are determined in dependence on the lambda control deviation, at least one of the load and/or the rotational speed and/or the temperature of the internal combustion engine, and further operating parameters of the vehicle other than the load, rotation speed or temperature of the internal combustion engine.

摘要: A fast light-off time enhancement device and method may be used for an exhaust catalyst or particulate filter. The light-off time enhancement device may include a fuel injector, a carbon nano-tube injector, and a light source when active may generate heat. Heat generated thereby provides improving light-off time of the catalyst. Additionally, the same system may be used to generate heat to regenerate a particulate filter. An associated control system may be utilized to monitor vehicle parameters and determine the appropriate use of the light-off enhancement device.

摘要: A direct fuel injection internal combustion engine fluidly coupled to an exhaust aftertreatment system is described and includes a plurality of fluidly coupled exhaust purifying devices and an exhaust gas sensor. A method of controlling the engine includes, activating, via a heater controller, a heating element of the exhaust gas sensor in response to starting the internal combustion engine. An exhaust gas feedstream is monitored to determine a temperature of the exhaust gas sensor. Engine control to effect heating of one of the exhaust purifying devices is permitted only when a temperature of the exhaust gas sensor is greater than a threshold temperature.

摘要: In the present invention, an internal combustion engine is provided with an in-cylinder fuel injection valve and a secondary air supply device and is formed so as to make possible first catalyst warming control and second catalyst warming control that promote the raising of the temperature of an exhaust gas purification catalyst. The first catalyst warming control comprises control to inject fuel from the in-cylinder fuel injection valve during the compression stroke to form a stratified state, and control to greatly delay ignition timing. The second catalyst warming control comprises control to supply secondary air to an engine exhaust gas passage. The internal combustion engine executes the first catalyst warming control after startup and, after the first catalyst warming control is executed, carries out control (third catalyst warming control) to execute the first catalyst warming control and the second catalyst warming control simultaneously.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to enable a requested efficiency by cylinder group that is requested from a viewpoint of exhaust gas performance to be realized precisely when an internal combustion engine having a single throttle shared by a plurality of cylinder groups, and having an exhaust gas purifying catalyst for each of the cylinder groups is operated at a different air-fuel ratio at each of the cylinder groups. To this end, a control device for the internal combustion engine provided by the present invention calculates an efficiency ratio of a representative efficiency determined based on the requested efficiency by cylinder group and a requested efficiency by cylinder group, and calculates a requested torque by cylinder group by dividing a requested torque by the efficiency ratio for each of the cylinder groups. The control device controls an opening of the throttle in accordance with the requested torque, the representative efficiency based on the requested efficiency by cylinder group, and a target air amount calculated from a representative air-fuel ratio based on a target air-fuel ratio by cylinder group, and controls ignition timing for each of the cylinder groups, in accordance with a target efficiency by cylinder group that is calculated as a ratio of the requested torque by cylinder group and an estimated potential torque.
