摘要: A method of producing a ceramic matrix composite including a protective ceramic coating thereon comprises applying a surface slurry onto an outer surface of an impregnated fiber preform. The surface slurry includes particulate ceramic solids dispersed in a flowable preceramic polymer comprising silicon, and the impregnated fiber preform comprises a framework of ceramic fibers loaded with particulate matter. The flowable preceramic polymer is cured, thereby forming on the outer surface a composite layer comprising a cured preceramic polymer with the particulate ceramic solids dispersed therein. The cured preceramic polymer is then pyrolyzed to form a porous ceramic layer comprising silicon carbide, and the impregnated fiber preform and the porous ceramic layer are infiltrated with a molten material comprising silicon. After infiltration, the molten material is cooled to form a ceramic matrix composite body with a protective ceramic coating thereon.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a pillar-shaped honeycomb structure filter including preparing a pillar-shaped honeycomb structure having a plurality of first cells and a plurality of second cells that are alternately arranged adjacent to each other with a porous partition wall interposed therebetween; adhering ceramic particles containing 50% by mass or more in total of one or two selected from SiC and SiN to a surface of the first cells; and performing a heat-oxidation treatment on the pillar-shaped honeycomb structure in which the ceramic particles are adhered to the surface of the first cells to form a porous film comprised of the ceramic particles having an oxide film thereon so as to satisfy: (1) 0.05≤T≤0.5; (2) 0.05≤T/D50; and (3) 4≤{(W1−W0)/W0×100}/D50.

摘要: A porous material includes aggregate particles and a binding material. In the aggregate particles, oxide films containing cristobalite are provided on surfaces of particle bodies that are silicon carbide particles or silicon nitride particles. The binding material binds the aggregate particles together in a state where pores are provided therein. The porous material contains at least one of copper, calcium, and nickel as an ancillary component.

摘要: A coated component, along with methods of its formation, are provided. The coated component may include a ceramic matrix composite substrate comprising silicon carbide and having a surface, a bond coat on the surface of the substrate, and an environmental barrier coating on the bond coat. The bond coat includes a plurality of discrete particles dispersed within a matrix phase, with the matrix phase formed from mullite and defining 60% to 98% by volume of the bond coat. The plurality of discrete particles include an oxygen getter and has 50% of its volume or greater formed from particles having an average size of 10 μm to 100 μm.

摘要: An rear fairing for a pylon supporting an aircraft turbojet engine forms an aerodynamic surface covering the base of the pylon. The rear fairing is elongated in a longitudinal direction and includes a floor arranged opposite the hot gases exiting the turbojet engine and side walls constituting aerodynamic surfaces. The floor and the side walls include ceramic matrix composite materials made from preforms formed by layers of superimposed warp and weft yarns, the preforms have interlayer weaving yarns connecting the layers to one another.

摘要: A reaction-bonded silicon carbide (SiC) body is produced by: providing a preform including ceramic elements and carbon, and one or more surface features; providing a powder which includes diamond particles and carbon; locating the powder in the surface feature(s); and infiltrating the preform and the powder with molten silicon (Si) to form reaction-bonded SiC in the preform, and to form reaction-bonded SiC coatings on the diamond particles. The present disclosure also relates to a device/component which includes: a main body portion and discrete elements located at least partially within the main body portion. The main body portion may include reaction-bonded SiC and Si, but not diamond, while the discrete elements include diamond particles, reaction-bonded SiC coatings surrounding the diamond particles, and Si. According to the present disclosure, diamond may be advantageously located only where it is needed.

摘要: This invention provides resin formulations which may be used for 3D printing and pyrolyzing to produce a ceramic matrix composite. The resin formulations contain a solid-phase filler, to provide high thermal stability and mechanical strength (e.g., fracture toughness) in the final ceramic material. The invention provides direct, free-form 3D printing of a preceramic polymer loaded with a solid-phase filler, followed by converting the preceramic polymer to a 3D-printed ceramic matrix composite with potentially complex 3D shapes or in the form of large parts. Other variations provide active solid-phase functional additives as solid-phase fillers, to perform or enhance at least one chemical, physical, mechanical, or electrical function within the ceramic structure as it is being formed as well as in the final structure. Solid-phase functional additives actively improve the final ceramic structure through one or more changes actively induced by the additives during pyrolysis or other thermal treatment.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for producing bulk silicon carbide and producing silicon carbide coatings are provided herein. The method includes feeding a mixture of silicon carbide and ceramic into a plasma sprayer. The plasma generates a stream towards a substrate forming a bulk material or optionally a coating on the substrate such as an article upon contact therewith. In embodiments, the substrate can be removed, leaving a component part fabricated from bulk silicon carbide.
