Abstract:
A threaded joint for a steel pipe comprises a pin and a box with a contact surface having a threaded part and a unthreaded metal contact part, wherein a solid lubricating film containing one or more kinds of lubricating powders selected from graphite, mica, calcium carbonate and kaolin, a copper powder, and a binder is formed on at least one contact surface of the pin and the box. An object of the present invention is to provide a threaded joint for a steel pipe which allows for repeated fastening and loosening of a threaded joint without adversely influencing on a human body and environment, and is excellent in galling resistance, rust preventing property and gas tightness.
Abstract:
A solid lubricant and composition useful for lubricating the flanges of locomotive wheels, railcar wheels, rail track and in applications where it is desirable to reduce friction when metal contacts metal. The solid lubricant having from about twenty-five percent to about seventy percent by volume of a polymeric carrier, about five to seventy-five percent by volume of organic and inorganic extreme pressure additives, about zero to twenty percent by volume synthetic extreme pressure anti-wear liquid oil, and about zero to one percent by volume optical brightener.
Abstract:
An anti-seize composition which is non-flowable and dimensionally stable at temperatures greater than about 120° F. and dispensable at room temperature without the application of heat is provided. The composition includes a solid anti-seize lubricant, such as of metallic copper, metallic nickel, metallic aluminum, metallic lead, metallic zinc, graphite, calcium oxide, calcium carbonate, calcium fluoride, calcium stearate, lithium, molybdenum disulfide, boron nitride, barium sulfate. or combinations thereof. The anti-seize lubricant is dispersed in a carrier which is a solid at about room temperature. The carrier includes a grease with an ASTM D 217 penetration at 25° C. from about 200 to about 400 mm, a matrix material, and a naphthenic petroleum oil having a viscosity of less than about 300 SUS at 100° F. and having an API gravity at 60° F. from about 23 to about 25. The matrix material is a polymeric material. Optionally, a refined petroleum wax may also be included.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an aqueous graphite dispersion including graphite particles dispersed in water along with stabilizers acting as dispersants, and additives. The graphite particles are at least partially spherical.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a lubricant composition for hot metal working which is capable of inhibiting generation of flaws on the surface of materials to be provided for hot metal working, and provides a method of hot metal working. The invention provides a lubricant composition for hot metal working comprising a plurality of glass frits respectively having different softening point from each other.
Abstract:
This invention relates to compositions and methods for improving the performance of organophilic organic-clay complexes, which are dispersible in organic liquids to form a gel therein. Depending on the composition of the gel, such gels may be useful as lubricating greases, oil-based muds, oil base packer fluids, paint-varnish-lacquer removers, paints, foundry molding sand binders, adhesives and sealants, inks, polyester laminating resins, polyester gel coats, cosmetics, detergents, and the like.
Abstract:
An aqueous lubricating composition comprising at least one divalent metal nitrate; at least one alkali metal hydroxide; at least one ionic surfactant; and at least one lubricant/release agent. Upon application to aluminum and titanium, the lubricating composition forms a dry film lubricant stable to heating to a temperature of 200 to 400° C., preferably 1100° C.
Abstract:
According to the invention there is provided a method of reducing wear of one or both of two steel elements having surfaces in sliding or sliding-rolling contact. The method involves applying an HPF friction control composition to one, or more than one contacting surface of one or both of the two steel elements. In a particular example, the HPF friction control composition comprises a rheological control agent, a lubricant, a friction modifier, and one, or more than one of a retentivity agent, an antioxidant, a consistency modifier, and a freezing point depressant.
