Abstract: Provided are magnesium oxide particles which are good in dispersibility in a resin or rubber, can function sufficiently as an acid acceptor or scorch retarder, and do not lower, even after combined with a resin or rubber, material properties thereof; a resin composition; a rubber composition; and a shaped body. The magnesium oxide particles satisfying the following (A) to (C): (A) an average particle size is 5 μm or less; (B) a BET specific surface area is 20 m2/g or more and 200 m2/g or less; and (C) a screen residue by a sieve opening of 45 μm is 0.1% by weight or less.

Abstract: A surface-treated heavy calcium carbonate is provided which is useful for a film exactly controlled in its pore diameter and for easily hydrolyzable polyester resins. A heavy calcium carbonate is also provided which is compounded in a curable resin such as a one-component moisture-curable adhesive and a sealant either without any pre-drying treatment or by simple pre-drying treatment. A surface-treated heavy calcium carbonate satisfying 13,000≦A≦25,000, 0.8≦B≦3.0, C≧0.55, and 0≦D1≦1000, or 8,000≦A≦25,000, 0.8≦B≦15, 0≦C1≦1000, and 0≦C2≦150 wherein: A: specific surface area (cm2/g), B: average particle diameter (μm): 50% particle diameter (d50) (μm), C: 10% particle diameter (μm), D1, C1: water content at between 25° C. and 300° C. by a Karl-Fischer method (heating vaporization method) (ppm), and C2: water content at between 200° C. and 300° C. by the same method.

Abstract: Provided is a process for producing a wet masterbatch which, without deteriorating a reinforcing property of a rubber composition and rubber physical properties, micronizes a filler slurry by controlling an amount of functional groups on a filler surface, and improves filler dispersibility in the rubber wet masterbatch and the rubber composition. The process for producing a wet masterbatch comprises: a step of producing a slurry solution having a pH of 8 or more by dispersing carbon black having an average amount of surface acidic functional groups (μeq/m2) of 0.15 or more and less than 3.00; a step of producing a mixture by mixing the slurry solution and a rubber latex solution in a liquid phase; and a step of drying the mixture.

A chloroprene rubber composition, comprising 100 parts by mass of a chloroprene rubber, 0.1 part or more by mass and 10 parts or less by mass of an active zinc white having an average particle diameter of 0.05 μm or more and 0.35 μm or less, a particle diameter range of 0.01 μm or more and 1.0 μm or less and a specific surface area of 10 m2/g or more and 150 m2/g or less, and 15 parts or more by mass and 200 parts or less by mass of a carbon black having an average particle diameter of 70 nm or more and 600 nm or less and a DBP oil absorption number of 15 ml/100 g or more and 60 ml/100 g or less.

Abstract: Provided are: a rubber composition for treads which contains a diene rubber in the rubber component and can simultaneously achieve blowing resistance during dry running, wet grip performance and abrasion resistance; and a pneumatic tire including a tread formed from the rubber composition for treads. The rubber composition contains: a diene rubber including styrene-butadiene rubber; zinc dithiophosphate; an inorganic filler including at least one selected from the group consisting of: a compound of the formula: mM.xSiOy.zH2O wherein M represents at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Ti, Ca, and Zr, or an oxide or hydroxide of the metal, m represents an integer of 1-5, x represents an integer of 0-10, y represents an integer of 2-5, and z represents an integer of 0-10; magnesium sulfate; and silicon carbide, and having a BET value of 5-120 m2/g and a linseed oil absorption of 30-80 mL/100 g; and sulfur, wherein, per 100 parts by mass of the diene rubber, there are 0.2-15 parts by mass of the zinc dithiophosphate, 1-70 parts by mass of the inorganic filler, and less than 2.5 parts by mass of zinc oxide.

Abstract: The present invention provides highly dispersible precipitated silica having improved structure and properties for use as reinforcing filler in elastomeric compositions and method of preparation thereof. The present invention further provides an alkaline silicate solution having reduced dielectric constant by digesting biogenic silica source with alkaline solution such that soluble organic compounds present in the biogenic silica source leach into the alkaline silicate solution. The alkaline silicate solution obtained as above is then acidified with a mineral acid under particular conditions of pH, temperature, time etc. to obtain the highly dispersible precipitated silica of the present invention.
