Abstract: Apparatuses of user equipment (UEs) for end-to-end coordination of voice over cellular data network communications. An apparatus of a UE includes one or more data storage devices and one or more processors. The one or more data storage devices are configured to store delay budget information pertaining to end-to-end delivery of a real-time transport protocol (RTP) stream sent from a remote UE to the UE. The one or more processors are configured to generate an application layer message including the delay budget information, the application layer message to be transmitted to the remote UE to enable the remote UE to request, from a cellular base station servicing the remote UE, additional air interface delay based on the delay budget information.

Abstract: Provided herein is design of early data transmission in wireless communication system. An apparatus for a user equipment (UE) includes a processor configured to: encode a physical random access channel (PRACH) sequence from a plurality of PRACH sequence for transmission via a PRACH to perform a random access procedure, wherein indication of support of early data transmission (EDT) that is transmitted during the random access procedure is based on at least one of the plurality of PRACH sequences, higher layer signaling, PRACH resources, PRACH formats, and a payload from the UE; and send the PRACH sequence to a radio frequency (RF) interface; and the RF interface to receive the PRACH sequence from the processor. Design of random access response (RAR) is also disclosed herein.

Abstract: Embodiments of techniques and systems for extended discontinuous reception (DRX) are described herein. In some embodiments, a user equipment (UE) configured for extended DRX may include receiver circuitry and paging circuitry. The receiver circuitry may be configured to receive a system frame number from an eNB and receive extension data from the eNB. The paging circuitry may be configured to determine an augmented system frame number based on the system frame number and the extension data, determine a paging frame number based on the extension data, and monitor for paging occasions when the augmented system frame number is equal to the paging frame number. Abstract: Technology for using an open mobile alliance (OMA) management object (MO) for congestion control in mobile networks is described. A novel type of OMA MO for application specific access control (ASAC) can include internet protocol (IP) flow descriptions that can be used to characterize applications with fine granularity. Priorities can be assigned to IP flows based on the IP flow descriptions. A user equipment (UE) can receive such an OMA MO and also receive application-barring information regarding a congestion level in a mobile network with which an application at the UE wishes to connect. The UE can have a connectivity manager (CM) that determines whether to allow the application to establish a connection with the mobile network based on the priority level of the application's associated IP flow and the application-barring information.

Abstract: Technology for provisioning categories of applications on a mobile device is disclosed. A wireless network element can communicate Application Specific Congestion Control for Data Communications (ACDC)/Application and Service Access Control (ASAC) information to the mobile device. The ACDC/ASAC information can include a preconfigured list of application categories. Each application category can include a set of applications that are allowed to access a wireless network from the mobile device during at least one defined condition level. The wireless network element can activate ACDC/ASAC for one or more condition levels while a capacity threshold of the wireless network is exceeded. The wireless network element can allow a set of applications for a selected application category to communicate with the wireless network when the ACDC/ASAC is activated based on the one or more condition levels for the selected application category.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for connectionless small data transmission. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise a processor circuit, a configuration component for execution by the processor circuit to establish a connectionless small data transmission (CSDT) mode, and a communication component for execution by the processor circuit to send a small data preamble, receive a resource allocation message identifying an assigned resource, and send a small data item in the CSDT mode using the assigned resource. Abstract: Embodiments of an eNodeB and method for small data transfer in a Wireless Network are generally described herein. A method performed by circuitry of a User Equipment (UE) can include determining, by the UE, whether the UE is configured to be used for Machine Type Communication (MTC). The method can include determining whether the UE has small data (SD) to transfer. The method can include configuring the UE to use a small data signaling radio bearer (SDSRB) to send the SD, in response to determining that the UE is configured to be used for MTC and the UE has SD to transfer. An evolved Node B can determine whether the UE is configured to be used for MTC, determine whether there is SD to transfer to the UE, wherein SD comprises data that has delay tolerance, and configure the UE to use a signaling bearer to send the SD.

Abstract: Embodiments of a Mobility Management Entity (MME) to support packet-switched (PS) services in a network in accordance with Evolved Packet System (EPS) bearers are disclosed herein. The MME may receive, from a User Equipment (UE), an indicator of Machine Type Communication (MTC) operation, which may indicate that the UE operates as an MTC UE. The MME may, at least partly in response to a determination of UE inactivity on an EPS bearer, transmit a bearer release message for release of an S5/S8 bearer included in the EPS bearer. In some embodiments, the indicator of MTC operation may include a permission indicator from the UE for the release of the S5/S8 bearer. In some embodiments, the indicator of MTC operation may include an indicator of transmission of small blocks of data or transmission at an infrequent rate.
