Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) and methods for communication are generally described herein. The UE may select, from a plurality of short transmission time intervals (TTIs), a short TTI for a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) sidelink transmission by the UE. The short TTIs may occur within a legacy TTI. The short TTIs may be allocated for V2V sidelink transmissions by non-legacy UEs. The legacy TTI may be allocated for V2V sidelink transmissions by legacy UEs. The UE may transmit, in accordance with the legacy TTI, a legacy physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) to indicate, to legacy UEs, the V2V sidelink transmission by the UE. The UE may transmit, in accordance with the selected short TTI, a short PSCCH (sPSCCH) to indicate, to non-legacy UEs, the V2V sidelink transmission by the UE.

Abstract: Communication signals using a first and a second frequency band in a wireless network is described herein. The first frequency band may be associated with a first beamwidth while the second frequency band may be associated with a second beamwidth. An apparatus may include receiver circuitry arranged to receive first signals in a first frequency band associated with a first beamwidth and second signals in a second frequency band associated with a second beamwidth, the first signals comprising a frame synchronization parameter and the second signals comprising frame alignment signals. The apparatus may further include processor circuitry coupled to the receiver circuitry, the processor circuitry arranged to activate or deactivate the receiver circuitry to receive the frame alignment signals based on the frame synchronization parameter. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Abstract: Cellular (e.g., LTE or UMTS) and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) based technologies can provide ubiquitous and seamless synchronization solution for LTE-based vehicle to everything (V2X) or Proximity Services synchronization (ProSe) services. For example, by using joint GNSS timing references and LTE cellular network timing references for V2X or ProSe system synchronization benefits of using GNSS technologies to improve synchronization procedure for LTE based V2X or ProSe services can be enabled, including: (1) accurate and stable timing, (2) availability of a global and stable timing reference and (3) ability to propagate GNSS timing by user equipment having sufficient GNSS signal quality.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) or network device such a vehicle UE (V-UE) or pedestrian UE (P-UE) can configure resources independently for communication with other V-UEs/P-UEs to avoid collision and ensure safety. The UEs can operate to independently monitor and configure their own resources via partial sensing window configurations that can dynamically configured to perform resource (re)selection in response to a resource reselection trigger. An exclusion of detected resources that are reduced or occupied by other devices can be performed, and a resource candidate set generated to select resource candidates for long term evolution (LTE) vehicular communications. UE partial sensing mechanisms and congestion control can be enhanced for these communications via efficient power control and signaling reliance for vehicle communication quality, as well as pedestrian safety.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can receive, from an eNodeB, a serving PLMN system information block (SIB)19 for a carrier frequency of a serving PLMN of the UE. The UE can acquire inter-frequency and inter-PLMN discovery system information acquisition assistance signaling information from the SIB19. The UE can process a non-serving PLMN SIB19 for one or more carrier frequencies of a non-serving PLMN using the inter-frequency and inter-PLMN discovery system information acquisition assistance signaling information. The UE can identify inter-frequency and inter-PLMN discovery announcement rate information and monitoring control configuration information for the one or more carrier frequencies of the non-serving PLMN to enable the UE to perform device-to-device (D2D) discovery with a UE in the non-serving PLMN according to the inter-frequency and inter-PLMN discovery announcement rate information and monitoring control configuration information.

Abstract: Technology for an apparatus of a user equipment (UE) configured to select spectrum resources in a vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication system is disclosed. It relies on the established mechanisms for device-todevice, D2D direct mode communication well-known in the context of Proximity Services in a 3GPP LTE communications system. The UE can calculate a received energy in a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) over a sensing period for a portion of one or more sub-channels over selected subframes in a resource pool, by means of measurements of Received Signal Strength Indication, RSSI, of other D2D sidelink channel communications. The UE can identify the one or more sub-channels over the selected subframes that has a measured energy level greater than a threshold value to determine a channel congestion fraction (CCF) comprising a fraction of the resources that exceed the threshold value, reflecting a resource utilization. The UE can send the channel congestion fraction (CCF) to an upper layer of the UE to enable resource reselection for the UE based on the fraction of the resources that exceed the threshold value. The configuration of D2D retransmission parameters is in particular addressed, according to the measured congestion or interference. The UE may as well transmit the measured CCF to a base station evolved node B, eNB, which may accordingly reconfigure the UE's sidelink channel communication transmission parameters.

Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) device or network system facilitates direct device-to-device (D2D) communication with another UE device, in which a single scheduling assignment indicates the transmission of packet data units, their corresponding retransmissions, and a mapping scheme into an available resource pool. The UE device operates to switch between a D2D communication and a cellular network communication. A single SA transmission from the UE enables the D2D communication by providing mapping parameters for decoding a subsequent SA transmission and a detection of the PDUs within sub-frames between two SA transmissions.

Abstract: A technology for a user equipment (UE) that is operable to communicate in an ad-hoc wireless multicast communications network is disclosed. Another UE can be selected to send a request to send (RTS) control frame to. The RTS control frame can be communicated to the other UE. The RTS control frame indicates that the UE requests to send a multicast data frame. A clear to send (CTS) message can be received from the other UE, indicating the UE is clear to send the multicast data frame. The multicast data frame can be transmitted by the UE to a selected group of UEs.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for managing interference to facilitate allocation of a dynamic uplink and downlink configuration are disclosed herein. Determining whether a first cell causes interference less than a pre-determined threshold level to one or more neighboring cells or whether flexible subframes of radio frames associated with the one or more neighboring cells operate as downlink subframes. In response to the determining condition being met, allocating a first flexible subframe of a first radio frame associated with the first cell to operate as a downlink subframe at normal transmit power level. In response to the determining condition not being met, allocating the first flexible subframe of the first radio frame associated with the first cell as one of a downlink subframe operating in a reduced transmit power level or as an uplink subframe.
