摘要: A method for object localization comprises defining an edge model for object localization, and searching an image for an object matching the edge model. Searching comprises defining a region of interest, including a portion of the object, sub-sampling the region of interest, and extracting an edge image comprising edges from the region of interest. Searching further comprises thinning at least one edge of the edge image, determining a distance map between the image and the edge image according to a distance transformation, and matching the edge model to the edge image within a search area defined according to the distance map.

摘要: A semiconductor device includes a semiconductor material substrate, an opto-electric component formed on the substrate, and a first transparent layer formed on an upper surface of the substrate over the component, the layer having a planar upper surface with a cavity formed therein. The first transparent layer has a selected thickness and a first index of refraction. The semiconductor device further includes a lens having a second index of refraction, the lens being formed in the cavity and having a planar upper surface. An upper surface of the lens and the upper surface of the transparent layer may be coplanar, or alternatively, they may lie in separate planes. The semiconductor device may also include a second transparent layer formed over the first layer and lens, as a passivation layer. The first transparent layer may be silicon dioxide, while the lens may be a flowable dielectric.

摘要: Connection between optical fibers and optical components within a semiconductor substrate. A lens is created at the front of a semiconductor substrate. A tapered hole is created in the back of the substrate exposing part or all of the surface of the lens. An optical component is formed or affixed at the front surface of the substrate. A volume of transparent adhesive is placed in the hole, followed by an optical fiber, which is thus coupled to the surface of the lens. A light guide is created on the front of the substrate overlying the lens to direct optical signals between the optical fiber inserted in the tapered hole and the optical component on the surface of the substrate.

摘要: A method for matching images is provided that includes the step of providing a template image and an input image. The images include pixels, each pixel having an intensity associated therewith. An energy function formed by weighting a sum of squared differences of data constraints corresponding to locations of both the template image and the input image is minimized to determine estimated geometric and spatially-varying illumination-parameters for the input image with respect to the template image. The estimated geometric and spatially-varying illumination parameters are outputted for further processing.

摘要: A safety fuel lighter with an improved ignitor assembly, including a striker wheel which rotates about an axis in response to force applied to the striker wheel by a user's thumb or finger. The striker wheel has an annular center portion, two outer annular portions sandwiching the center portion, and a bore extending through the center portion and the two outer portions. An axle is positioned within the bore of the striker wheel, where the axle has a diameter which is smaller than the diameter of the bore. A mounting frame has a spring receptacle and a pair of mounting holes for receiving the axle so that the striker wheel can move from a first position to a second position. A spring is received within the spring receptacle and positioned below a flint. The spring exerts a compressive force against the flint and forces the flint into contact with the striker wheel. The compressive force exerted by the spring being insufficient to cause the flint to generate sparks when the striker wheel is in the first position and rotated, and the compressive force exerted by the spring being sufficient to cause the flint to generate sparks when the striker wheel is in the second position and rotated.

摘要: A system for automatically detecting and recognizing the identity of a deformable object such as a human face, within an arbitrary image scene. The system comprises an object detector implemented as a probabilistic DBNN, for determining whether the object is within the arbitrary image scene and a feature localizer also implemented as a probabilistic DBNN, for determining the position of an identifying feature on the object such as the eyes. A feature extractor is coupled to the feature localizer and receives coordinates sent from the feature localizer which are indicative of the position of the identifying feature and also extracts from the coordinates information relating to other features of the object such as the eyebrows and nose, which are used to create a low resolution image of the object. A probabilistic DBNN based object recognizer for determining the identity of the object receives the low resolution image of the object inputted from the feature extractor to identify the object.
