摘要: An air-flow control device, for an engine having an intake passage and a fuel injector arranged in the intake passage for injecting fuel into the intake passage, includes an air-flow control valve, and a driving apparatus for driving the air-flow control valve. The air-flow control valve is arranged in the intake passage upstream of the fuel injector. The apparatus includes a first vacuum chamber into which the atmospheric pressure or a negative pressure produced in the intake passage downstream of the air-flow control valve is selectively introduced via a first vacuum control valve, and a second vacuum chamber into which the atmospheric pressure or a negative pressure produced in the intake passage downstream of the air-flow control valve is selectively introduced via a second vacuum control valve. The apparatus drives the air-flow control valve so that the degree of opening of the air-flow control valve becomes larger as the negative pressure in the first and the second vacuum chamber becomes larger. During an engine starting operation, the air-flow control valve is closed by introducing the atmospheric pressure into both of the first and the second vacuum chambers. After the engine starting operation is finished, the air-flow control valve is opened and the degree of opening of the air-flow control valve is controlled by controlling the negative pressure in the first and the second vacuum chambers.

摘要: A fuel collision surface 40 is provided so as to be spaced from and axially opposite to a fuel injection port 14. A ratio of a width of the fuel collision surface 40 to a diameter of the fuel injection port 14 is set in the range of 0.2-0.3 so that fuel flows in a membrane-like pattern in branch ports 34 without attaching to the branch port surfaces and is effectively atomized. Further, it is desirable that an angle defined between an air injection passage 36 and a fuel injection valve axis is set in the range of 45.degree.-75.degree. so that a good air atomization due to air injection is obtained.

摘要: An air intake device of an internal combustion engine having an intake passage comprises a tank which extends along the intake passage. A first pipe interconnects the tank with the intake passage and a valve disposed therein is actuated in response to the engine speed for improving the engine performance. A narrow second pipe also interconnects the tank with the intake passage and constitutes a resonator in conjunction with the tank. The second pipe opens into the intake passage upstream of a throttle valve and preferably close to an air cleaner mounted on the upstream end of the intake passage.

摘要: An internal combustion engine with a vertically extending intake duct leading to the collecting portion of the intake manifold and a throttle valve in the intake duct has a main fuel injector and an auxiliary fuel injector arranged in the intake duct downstream of the throttle valve. An amount of fuel which is proportional to the amount of the sucked air is intermittently injected into the intake duct from the main fuel injector. At least a fixed small amount of fuel is in effect continuously injected from the auxiliary fuel injector, with additional amounts being temporarily supplied during engine startup and acceleration.

摘要: A fuel jet adjusting plate has first nozzle holes arranged along a first circle coaxial with a central axis of a valve body and second nozzle holes arranged along a second circle coaxial with the central axis and having a diameter larger than that of the first circle. Each hole axis of the second nozzle holes forms an acute angle with a reference plane perpendicular to the central axis of the valve body smaller than that formed by each hole axis of the first nozzle holes with the reference plane. Hence, fuel sprays injected through the first nozzle holes can be directed away from fuel sprays injected through the second nozzle holes. As a result, the fuel sprays injected through the first nozzle holes do not interfere with the fuel sprays injected through the second nozzle holes, which makes it possible to suitably atomize injected fuel.

摘要: A fuel injection apparatus of an internal combustion engine includes a valve body movably disposed for back and forth movement in a fuel passage to open and close a fuel injection hole of the fuel injection apparatus. An armature is attached to the valve body. A valve-opening solenoid coil drives the armature in a valve-opening direction. A valve-closing solenoid coil drives the armature in a valve-closing direction. A controller that sets an overlap time, which is a time by which starting of electrifying of the valve-closing solenoid coil precedes stopping of electrifying of the valve-opening solenoid coil, controls the solenoid coils in accordance with a fuel pressure supplied to the fuel injection apparatus such that a valve-closing force on the valve body does not exceed an open valve holding force on the valve body prior to the time when stopping of the electrifying of the valve-opening solenoid coil occurs.

摘要: A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The injector has a valve body, an injection hole which has a width larger than a height thereof, and a fuel reservoir on the downstream side of a seat portion of the valve body. The fuel reservoir has a side surface and a bottom surface. One part of the side surface imparts one velocity component oriented in the direction of width in the injection hole to the fuel flow along the one part of the side surface. Another part of the side surface imparts another velocity component oriented in the direction of width in the injection hole to the fuel flow along the another part of the side surface. The bottom surface is formed at right angles with the center axis of the injection hole. The injection hole is communicated with the fuel reservoir via the bottom surface thereof.
