    摘要: A system is described for modeling various states of an operating engine and the adjustment of one or more operating characteristics of the engine based upon such modeling. A representative rate of change of a system mass for an engine is determined based upon, at least in part, a first state equation. A first representative mass flow approximating a mass flow across a throttle is determined based upon, at least in part, a second state equation. A second representative mass flow approximating a mass flow across an exhaust gas recirculation valve is determined based upon, at least in part, a third state equation. Determining the first representative mass flow includes specifying a throttle time constant modifier for the second state equation. Determining the second representative mass flow includes specifying an exhaust gas recirculation valve time constant modifier for the third state equation.

    摘要: A work apparatus has an internal combustion engine and a starter device for starting the engine. Within a housing of the work apparatus, a first electrical component is arranged at a first location and a second electrical component is arranged at a second location. A control unit is provided which is connected to the first electrical component and to the second electrical component. The control unit detects a first temperature-dependent value of the first electrical component at the first location, and a second temperature-dependent value of the second electrical component at the second location, and identifies the starting conditions as a function of these values. The first electrical component is a first actuator and the second electrical component is a second actuator or a sensor.

    摘要: An engine control system of a vehicle includes a manifold temperature module, a runner temperature module. The manifold temperature module determines a first temperature of gas in an intake manifold of an engine. The runner temperature module determines a second temperature of gas in an intake runner associated with a cylinder based on the first temperature of the gas in the intake manifold. The engine control system further includes at least one of: a fuel control module that controls fueling of the cylinder based on the second temperature of the gas in the intake runner; and a spark control module that controls spark of the cylinder based on the second temperature of the gas in the intake runner.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine control device is provided which can accurately estimate intake pipe temperature behavior during transient time even in an internal combustion engine embedded with a variable valve or a turbocharger. The internal combustion engine control device estimates transient behavior of the intake pipe temperature, on the basis of a flow rate (dGafs/dt) of gas flowing into the intake pipe, a flow rate (dGcyl/dt) of gas flowing from the intake pipe, an intake pipe pressure Pin, and a temporal changing rate (dPin/dt) of the intake pipe pressure. The device performs knocking control during transient time, on the basis of the estimated transient behavior of the intake pipe temperature.

    摘要: A method includes sensing pressure within an engine cylinder, and estimating at least one other engine system parameter based on the sensed pressure. Another method includes designing an engine system, which includes one or more engine cylinder pressure sensors and one or more other engine system sensors. According to this method, the engine system is operated, and engine cylinder pressure is sensed using the engine cylinder pressure sensors, which are in communication with an engine cylinder of an engine of the engine system. Also, other engine system parameters are sensed to obtain at least one other engine system parameter using the other engine system sensors. The engine cylinder pressure is correlated to the at least one other engine system parameter, and engine cylinder pressure is used to replace or augment the at least one other engine system parameter that correlates to the engine cylinder pressure.

    摘要: A compression-ignition internal combustion engine includes a plurality of combustion chambers operating in a four-stroke combustion cycle and is configured to operate at a geometric compression ratio greater than 10:1. A method for operating a the engine includes forming a fuel/air charge by injecting fuel into each combustion chamber during a compression stroke, wherein the injection is completed prior to any combustion within the combustion chamber. The method further includes operating the engine to manage temperature of the fuel/air charge in the combustion chamber below an auto-ignition point of the fuel/air charge, and providing a spark discharge in the combustion chamber subsequent to injecting the fuel and in advance of the fuel/air charge achieving an auto-ignition temperature.
