Abstract:
A manufacturing method for a wiring circuit board includes the steps of: forming a board on a surface of a metal layer directly or indirectly through an etching barrier layer; forming an insulating film on the surface of the metal layer; polishing the insulating film to an extent to which a top face of the bump is exposed; and forming a solder ball on the top face of the bump.
Abstract:
An electric incandescent lamp having an improved coiled refractory metal filament construction is disclosed which enables the lamp to provide a more precise light source. Various lamp and coiled filament configurations are disclosed to include employment of a reflective film for improved efficiency of lamp operation while a halogen substance can also be included in the inert gas filling for this purpose. A method to manufacture the disclosed lamp improvement is also provided.
Abstract:
Precise placement of one or more coiled filaments within the envelope of a miniature type incandescent lamp is achieved by positioning the coil legs in end-to-end abutting relationship with the respective lead wires and locking them in such junctured relationship with metal tubes that enclose and are fastened to the abutted end portions of the mated lead wires and coil legs and thus couple the members together. The coupling tubes are first secured to the lead wires so that their open ends provide tubular pockets which receive the coil legs and guide them into the proper mounting position on the lead wires. The open ends of the tubes are then hot-clamped around the associated coil legs, thereby mechanically and electrically joining the members together in operative relationship. The invention is particularly useful in the production of miniature halogen-cycle type incandescent lamps that are employed as compact light sources in sealed-beam automotive lamps which require one or more precisely-mounted filaments.
Abstract:
An improved incandescent lamp includes a bulb, a stem, a metal ring body, a filament and lead wires penetrating the stem. The metal ring body is air-tightly welded to the stem and the bulb respectively with the use of oxidation layers on the inner and outer surface thereof to thereby provide hermetic seals therebetween.
Abstract:
The two legs of a headlamp filament are welded to a headlamp filament shield to form a subassembly intermediate in the manufacturing process. The rigid nature of the filament/shield subassembly thereupon allows handling during assembly without displacing the filament from its precise location with respect to the shield as required by modern automotive headlamps. The filament/shield subassembly is welded to support pins in its final location in the lamp. A portion of the filament shield, orginally providing an electrical short circuit across the filament is trimmed away after welding to the support pins to make the lamp operational.
Abstract:
A process and an apparatus for manufacturing a miniature signal lamp. The lamp has a base having a longitudinal axis and radially projecting filament supports that project from the base and lie in substantially a common plane. The end portions of each filament support furthest from the base are connected to the filament. A portion of each filament support is formed into a Vshaped configuration lying in a plane substantially perpendicular to the common plane wherein alternate ones of said V-shaped portions point in one longitudinal direction and the remaining ones point in the opposite longitudinal direction.
Abstract:
An incandescent lamp of the tungsten-halogen type having an envelope of an aluminosilicate glass comprising in percent by weight SiO2 between 59 to 70, Al2O3 between 10 to 20 and BaO between 7.4 to 28 and having a coefficient of expansion between 36 and 40 X 10 7 per *C and a tungsten filament connected to lead wires which are directly sealed into the envelope. One end of the lamp envelope is rounded and the other end contains the seal and the tipped-off residue of an exhaust tube. Enclosed in the tipped-off residue is a spiral of tungsten wire which keeps the exhaust tube open during the lead wire sealing operation.

Abstract:
The apparatus comprises a coiling spindle having an axial passageway for periodic movement therethrough of a filament containing a mandrel. The free end of a supply of support wire is temporarily clamped in a slot at the periphery of the spindle which has a die at its end face such that, upon rotation of the spindle, the wire is coiled first around the periphery thereof and then around a generally spiral track in said end face and then down between turns of the filament. A reversing finger member then urges the wire back in the opposite direction to form a locking overwind which is then severed from the supply of support wire. A pressure finger member is then pressed against the outer helical turns on the spindle to partially set the turns and minimize opening or offsetting thereof relative to the filament.
