Abstract: A method of managing student arrival and student dismissal is executed within a remote server as the remote server is communicably coupled with at least one automobile identification (AI) device. The AI device scans an incoming vehicle in order to identify at least one authorized profile. The authorized profile is assigned to a student profile and recognize as one of the driver profiles within the remote server. Upon validation of the authorized profile, the remote server generates an updated instruction that includes at least one student management instruction and at least one additional instruction that are accessed and defined by parent profiles or faculty profiles. Then the updated instruction is sent from the remote server to a selected computing device so that the student arrival and student dismissal can be processed.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of using telematics data associated with an originating vehicle at a destination vehicle is provided. The method includes receiving telematics data associated with the originating vehicle by (1) a mobile device, or (2) a smart vehicle controller associated with a driver, and analyzing the telematics data to determine that a travel event exists. If the travel event exists, the method may determine if the travel event presents an issue or problem for the vehicle (or driver) by determining that a GPS location of the travel event is located along the current travel route of the vehicle and, if so, automatically taking a preventive or corrective action that alleviates a negative impact of the travel event on the driver or vehicle to facilitate safer or more efficient vehicle travel. Insurance discounts may be provided based upon the risk mitigation or prevention functionality, or usage thereof.

Abstract: In a map display apparatus, a display processor causes a display to display a map based on map information. A priority object setting unit determines a priority object having higher priority than other objects contained in the map. A scroll processor scrolls the map displayed on the display in step with a scroll operation performed by a user. In a case where the priority object is located outside the map displayed on the display, the operating feel controller adds directivity to an operating feel imparted to the scroll operation in such a manner that a scroll operation for scrolling the map toward the priority object and a scroll operation for scrolling the map in any other direction arouse different operating feels.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure include a method for journey planning including receiving a journey planning request, the journey planning request having an origin and a destination in a transportation network. The method also includes calculating an optimized journey plan by identifying a plurality of routes through the transportation network from the origin to the destination and determining an uncertainty associated with each of the plurality of routes. Calculating an optimized journey plan also includes evaluating a robustness of each of the plurality of routes to the uncertainty associated with each of the plurality of routes and selecting the optimized journey plan based on the journey planning request and the robustness of each of the plurality of routes.

Abstract: Described herein is a vehicle system configured to identify and mitigate inappropriate driving behavior. In some embodiments, the vehicle system may receive input information from one or more input sensors. The vehicle system may identify driving behaviors related to a vehicle from the received input. The vehicle system may determine whether the driving behaviors are inappropriate in light of one or more conditions affecting the vehicle. Upon identifying inappropriate behavior, the vehicle system may generate a set of corrective actions capable of being executed to mitigate the inappropriate driving behavior.

Abstract: Disclosed is a feature for a vehicle that enables taking precautionary actions in response to conditions on the road network around or ahead of the vehicle, in particular, an intersection without traffic signals and without a sufficient merge lane. A database that represents the road network is used to determine locations where roads meet without a traffic signal and without a sufficient merge lane. Then, precautionary action data is added to the database to indicate a location at which a precautionary action is to be taken about the location of the insufficient merge lane. A precautionary action system installed in a vehicle uses this database, or a database derived therefrom, in combination with a positioning system to determine when the vehicle is at a location that corresponds to the location of a precautionary action. When the vehicle is at such a location, a precautionary action is taken by a vehicle system as the vehicle is approaching a location of an insufficient merge lane.

Abstract: A confidence value is determined for data collected for a lane assist subsystem in a vehicle. A section curvature is identified for a section of a roadway when the confidence value is below a confidence value, threshold. The section curvature includes at least one section start point and at least one section end point. The section curvature is based at least in part on a heading angle, the heading angle defining an angle between a projected line of travel of the vehicle and a line segment from a vehicle position to the section end point. A distance to a lane boundary is predicted based at least in part on the identified section curvature. One or more vehicle subsystems is actuated based at least in part on the predicted distance to the lane boundary.

Abstract: Adaptive navigation techniques are disclosed that allow navigation systems to learn from a user's personal driving history. As a user drives, models are developed and maintained to learn or otherwise capture the driver's personal driving habits and preferences. Example models include road speed, hazard, favored route, and disfavored route models. Other attributes can be used as well, whether based on the user's personal driving data or driving data aggregated from a number of users. The models can be learned under explicit conditions (e.g., time of day/week, driver ID) and/or under implicit conditions (e.g., weather, drivers urgency, as inferred from sensor data). Thus, models for a plurality of attributes can be learned, as well as one or more models for each attribute under a plurality of conditions. Attributes can be weighted according to user preference. The attribute weights and/or models can be used in selecting a best route for user.
