摘要: Nanofiber based sensors are described that can be used to detect analytes in biological or non-biological contexts. Each sensor includes at least two nanofiber yarns that are spaced apart from one another so as to avoid electrical (or physical) contact. Each nanofiber yarn of the nanofiber sensor includes a sensing region that is in electrical contact with the rest of the corresponding nanofiber yarn. The sensing regions of the at least two nanofibers are treated with complementary sensing agents so that when the sensing regions (and the corresponding sensing agents) are exposed to the analyte to be detected, an electrical response is detected. This response is then communicated through one or more of the nanofiber yarns for interpretation by a processor.

摘要: A vapor sensor comprises a housing with an inlet opening in fluid communication with a sensor element within the housing. Standoff member(s) are positioned to maintain a gap between the inlet opening and a skin site. An operating circuit is in electrical communication with the sensor element and communicatively coupled to an output member. In use, the output member generates a sensory output indicative to an operator regarding concentration of alcoholic vapor in the ambient atmosphere proximate the skin site upon receiving communication from the operating circuit.

摘要: We disclose an in-toilet urinalysis system which includes a system for collection urine and applying the urine to a urine test strip. The system may include an orifice within a toilet bowl which leads into a channel. The channel may be connected to a capillary which has an orifice at each end. Urine may pass through the orifice, into the channel, then may be moved by capillary action through the capillary. A urine test strip dispenser may move reaction pads on a urine test strip to the distal end of the capillary to load the reaction pads with urine. The reaction pads may absorb the urine from the most distal orifice of the capillary. A measurable chemical reaction may occur in the reaction pads in response to urine analytes.

摘要: On-body units are provided and include a transcutaneous analyte sensor, electronic circuitry electrically coupled to the sensor, and an on-body housing having electrical contacts disposed thereon. The on-body housing comprises a substantially flat surface and a curved and convex surface opposite the substantially flat surface. Systems and methods including the on-body units are also provided. Methods for performing continuity measurements using on-body units are also provided. The methods include positioning an on-body unit (OBU) on a skin of a subject, contacting a continuity test instrument to the OBU; and performing a continuity measurement with the continuity test instrument. An AC signal may be provided across two electrical contacts, or a DC signal may be provided across two electrical contacts in opposite directions for the same amount of time. The measurement may be performed with one electrical contact, or with isolated electrical contacts.

摘要: A method for detection and monitoring a spreading stage of a biological cell for cancer diagnosis is disclosed. The method includes steps of removing biological cell lines from a material; culturing the cell lines via maintaining the removed biological cell lines in an appropriate medium at a controlled set of conditions; seeding the cultured biological cells lines on silicon nanowire electrode arrays of an electrical cell-substrate impedance sensor (ECIS); and measuring an electrical impedance of the seeded biological cell lines to detect and monitor a spreading state of the seeded biological cell lines for cancer diagnosis.

摘要: A monitoring apparatus for monitoring a subject (14) is disclosed. The monitoring apparatus comprises a storage device (18) for storing first skin secretion data (27) of the subject. A detection unit (12) detects a skin secretion at a skin portion of the subject and provides second skin secretion data (28) of the subject. An evaluation unit (16) evaluates the second skin secretion data and determines at least one physical parameter on the basis of the first skin secretion data and the second skin secretion data. One of the at least one physical parameter is a time value (25, 26) determinable on the basis of a difference between the first and the second skin secretion data.
