    摘要: A fuel injector comprises a tip end containing a flat planar orifice member that is sandwiched between a seat member and a flow director member. The thin disc orifice member contains a pair of metering orifices that receive fuel that has been allowed to pass through the seat member by virtue of the unseating of the injector needle. The fuel is emitted from the metering orifices as two parallel streams that are parallel to the injector centerline. The flow director member contains a pair of holes having wall portions arranged to cause the flow streams to be emitted from the injector tip as two streams that diverge from the injector centerline without any additional influence on the metering.

    摘要: A spark ignited four stroke cycle internal combustion engine having variable volume combustion chamber, ignition means to provide an ignition point in said combustion chamber, a valve controlled inlet port communicating the combustion chamber with an air induction passage through which air flows to the engine. The induction passage including a wall shaped to direct at least part of the air flowing along said wall portion when the port is open in a generally helical path about the port axis and when the port is open, the air flowing is directed into the combustion chamber to establish therein a generally helical air flow. A fuel injector nozzle located to deliver fuel into the induction passage on the opposite side of the inlet port axis to said wall portion of the induction passage and on a trajectory through the port when open to form an ignitable fuel cloud at the ignition point.

With the installation of the filler member into the space, fuel does not collect between the inner surface of the lateral bore and the outer surface of the vibration-increasing block, so that fuel does not flow along the wall of the atomizer body.

    摘要: An air-gas mixing device of the type used to mix air and gaseous fuel as a gaseous fuel charge for an internal combustion engine and particularly suitable for use with engines operating generators and the like at constant speed. Fuel and air valves for controlling the air/fuel mixture are coupled together and actuated by a fluid motor in response to a fluid pressure signal, derived from the intake manifold pressure of the engine, acting on the diaphragm of the fluid motor. The fuel valve is also independently actuated by a second fluid motor, mounted to the diaphragm of the first fluid motor, in response to ambient air pressure which is applied to the second fluid motor upon a sudden increase in engine load demand to enlarge the opening of the fuel valve and thereby enrich the air/fuel mixture to prevent a significant falloff in engine speed. Because of the dual control of the fuel valve, the device is capable of providing a more optimum lean air/fuel mixture for better fuel economy and emissions control during normal operating conditions while being able to quickly enrich the fuel mixture in response to sudden increases in load demand.

    摘要: Liquid fuel from a controlled supply is delivered to a delivery tube under a pressure which is too low to deliver a charge of fuel under static conditions. During an induction stroke however, air entering a cylinder of an engine is drawn through a venturi-type constriction and thereby draws air from a duct by-passing the engine throttle. This air is drawn through a convergent passage to pass the delivery end of the tube at supersonic velocity to draw therefrom a charge of fuel. The tubes for each inlet passage are in permanent communication with the same metered supply so each cylinder draws its appropriate charge in turn.

    摘要: A fuel injection system is proposed which serves to adapt the fuel-air mixture as precisely as possible to operating conditions of the internal combustion engine. The fuel injection system includes metering valves, each of which is assigned a regulating valve whose movable valve element can be exposed on one side to the fuel pressure downstream of the respective metering valve and on the other side to a control pressure line defined on one end by a control pressure valve of the nozzle/impact plate type and on the other end by a control throttle. The control pressure valve has a permanent magnet and an electromagnet, the magnetic fluxes of which are guided via an armature in such a manner that in at least one air gap the magnetic fluxes of the permanent magnet and of the electromagnet extend in the same direction, while in at least one other air gap the magnetic fluxes of the permanent magnet and of the electromagnet extend in opposite directions. This kind of embodiment requires a substantially smaller triggering power on the part of the electromagnet. By reversing the exciter current of the electromagnet, the control pressure valve is opened widely enough that the control pressure engaging the regulating valves causes the closure of the regulating valves, and the injection of fuel is precluded.
