Abstract: A centralized gateway server receives a first user request, configured to operate with a first development platform, indicating a first operation to be performed on behalf of a first user. The centralized gateway server generates a first service request for performing the first operation, and transmits the first service request to a server associated with a service, to cause the server to perform the first operation on behalf of the first user. The centralized gateway server also receives a second user request indicating a second operation. The second user request is configured to operate with a second development platform different from the first development platform. The centralized gateway server generates a second service request for performing the second operation, and transmits the second service request to the server to cause the server to perform the second operation.

Abstract: A method for initializing the border gateway protocol (BGP) on network devices. The method includes initializing a plurality of BGP convergence variables corresponding to a plurality of BGP sessions with a plurality of peer network devices. The first network device initializes the plurality of BGP sessions with the plurality of peer network devices, and receives from each of the plurality of peer network devices, route updates and a plurality of markers. The BGP convergence variables are updated and it is determined that first network device has received all the route updates. The duration of the BGP session is less than a C_TIMEOUT value for that peer network device, exceeds an I_P_TIMEOUT value, where the C_TIMEOUT value is greater than the I_P_TIMEOUT value. The first network device updates a routing information base (RIB) using the route updates and updates a forwarding information base (FIB) using the updated RIB.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the disclosure are directed to customization of alerts using telecommunications services. A data-communications server is configured to provide a database with a set of virtual office features including client-specific call routing functions available to remotely-situated client entities based on a subscription. The server is configured to provide to the client entities, a set of instructions written in a first programming language, and to receive from each respective client entity, client-specific sets of control data written in a second programming language. The client-specific sets of control data may specify particular alerts and/or reminders to be provided to end-users of the respective client entity.

Abstract: A disclosed digital media device operational at user premises to receive media signals from a media source for presentation via endpoint devices such as a television display. The digital media device can include gateway and digital media management functionality and can be referred to as a gateway and digital media device. The device offers application services obtained over a wide area network and a user premises network. The digital media device may form a composite signal from the media signal and application service information, for example, for a composite audio and/or video signal for television type presentation to the user. The digital media device may receive a selection signal based on the presentation, for transmission to the application service provider device or to the media source. The media device also offers a GUI presenting a moveable arrangement of icons for selectively accessing application services.

Abstract: A category of auxiliary tasks (such as routing configuration management or packet content transformation) associated with transmission of network packets between sets of network endpoints is determined. A virtual router is configured to transmit the packets between the sets of network endpoints. Connectivity is enabled between the virtual router and an auxiliary task offloading resource. Results of an auxiliary task performed at the offloading resource are used to transmit at least some packets between the sets of network endpoints.

Abstract: A map-reduce compatible distributed file system that consists of successive component layers that each provide the basis on which the next layer is built provides transactional read-write-update semantics with file chunk replication and huge file-create rates. Containers provide the fundamental basis for data replication, relocation, and transactional updates. A container location database allows containers to be found among all file servers, as well as defining precedence among replicas of containers to organize transactional updates of container contents. Volumes facilitate control of data placement, creation of snapshots and mirrors, and retention of a variety of control and policy information. Also addressed is the use of distributed transactions in a map-reduce system; the use of local and distributed snapshots; replication, including techniques for reconciling the divergence of replicated data after a crash; and mirroring.

Abstract: A network based hyperlocal authentication system and method is described. After establishing communications between a gateway and a remote network component, and after establishing communications between a wireless client device and the remote network component, the wireless client device requests an exclusive local key from the remote network component. The remote network component generates and transmits the exclusive local key to the gateway. The gateway then transmits the exclusive local key to the client device application with a gateway short range gateway transceiver. The wireless client device receives the exclusive local key from the gateway and then requests and receives a cryptographic material from the remote network component. The wireless client device communicates with the remote network component with the exclusive local key, received from the gateway, and the cryptographic material, received from the network component.

Abstract: A service management system communicates via wide area network with gateway devices located at respective user premises. The service management system remotely manages delivery of application services, which can be voice controlled, by a gateway, e.g. by selectively activating/deactivating service logic modules in the gateway. The service management system also may selectively provide secure communications and exchange of information among gateway devices and among associated endpoint devices. An exemplary service management system includes a router connected to the network and one or more computer platforms, for implementing management functions. Examples of the functions include a connection manager for controlling system communications with the gateway devices, an authentication manager for authenticating each gateway device and controlling the connection manager and a subscription manager for managing applications services and/or features offered by the gateway devices. A service manager, controlled by the subscription manager, distributes service specific configuration data to authenticated gateway devices.

Abstract: A method of operating a network server, such as a mobile application gateway, connect devices on a cellular or carrier network with individual networks, such as enterprise voice and data networks or residential networks. The effects of the present invention are far reaching in terms of transferring effective call control from the cellular network into the control of the individual network, such as the enterprise, and enabling new business models for the purchase of cellular service from a public cellular carrier by an enterprise.
