Abstract: Examples of techniques for overlaying on an in-vehicle display road objects associated with potential hazards are disclosed. In one example implementation, a method may include: responsive to detecting a presence of a detected vehicle in proximity to the local vehicle, determining, by a processing device, a position of the detected vehicle, a speed of the detected vehicle, and a time to the local vehicle of the detected vehicle; determining, by the processing device, whether the detected vehicle, in proximity to the local vehicle, represents a potential hazard to the local vehicle based on the position of the detected vehicle, the speed of the detected vehicle, and a time to the local vehicle of the detected vehicle; and responsive to determining that the detected vehicle, in proximity to the local vehicle, represents a potential hazard to the local vehicle, overlaying, by the processing device, a warning indicium on the in-vehicle display.

Abstract: A rear vision system for a host vehicle and a method of using the same, where the rear vision system includes an electronic display mirror that is designed to replace a traditional rearview mirror. The electronic display mirror has an integrated electronic video display that is coupled to a rearward facing camera at the back of the vehicle and displays a video feed from the camera to the driver in real time. The electronic display mirror can display enhanced video output that shows the area behind the host vehicle, along with performance metrics that are superimposed on the video and provide relevant information to the driver. For example, the enhanced video output may include an estimated time difference between the host vehicle and the closest trailing vehicle superimposed on the video; this may be particularly useful when the host vehicle is involved in a performance driving event, like a race.

Abstract: A method for driver-defined vehicle to vehicle communications includes receiving, by a controller of a host vehicle, remote-vehicle data from a plurality of remote vehicles. The method also includes identifying, by the controller of the host vehicle, at least one V2X-capable remote vehicle of the plurality of remote vehicles using the remote-vehicle data. The V2X-capable remote vehicle is capable of receiving and transmitting V2X communications. The method also includes receiving, by a user interface of the host vehicle, an input from a vehicle occupant of the host vehicle in response to identifying at least one V2X-capable remote vehicle. The input is indicative that the vehicle occupant wants to communicate a prerecorded voice message to V2X-capable remote vehicle. The method also includes transmitting the prerecorded voice message to the at least one V2X-capable remote vehicle in response to receiving the input from the vehicle occupant.

Abstract: A system for detecting and mitigating window condensation for a vehicle includes an interior camera and a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The system also includes a controller in electrical communication with the interior camera and the HVAC system. The controller is programmed to determine an opacity of a first window of the vehicle using the interior camera, compare the opacity of the first window to an opacity threshold, and adjust the HVAC system to decrease the opacity of the first window of the vehicle in response to determining that the opacity of the first window is greater than or equal to the opacity threshold.

Abstract: A system for enhancing occupant awareness for a vehicle includes a camera system for capturing images of an environment surrounding the vehicle, a display for displaying information to the occupant of the vehicle and a controller in electrical communication with the camera system and the display. The controller is programmed to determine an activation state of the system. The controller is further programmed to capture an image of the environment surrounding the vehicle using the camera system in response to determining that the activation state is the activated state. The image has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion of the image includes a trailer connected to the vehicle and the second portion of the image. The controller is further programmed to display the second portion of the image to the occupant using the display based at least in part on the first portion of the image.

Abstract: A system for dynamically calculating collision avoidance metric thresholds for a vehicle includes a vehicle sensor, a passenger position tracking device, and a controller. The controller is in electrical communication with the vehicle sensor and the passenger position tracking device. The controller is programmed to determine a collision avoidance metric using the vehicle sensor, determine an offset to a collision avoidance metric threshold using the passenger position tracking device, and adjust the collision avoidance metric threshold based on the offset. The controller is also programed to compare the collision avoidance metric to the collision avoidance metric threshold and perform an action in response to determining that the collision avoidance metric is less than or equal to the collision avoidance metric threshold.

Abstract: A warning system is provided for alerting a VRU of a predicted collision. The system includes one or more input devices for transmitting first and second input signals for associated first and second vehicles. The system further includes a UWB beacon communicating with a UWB tag of a VRU notification device carried by the VRU. A location of the UWB tag is trackable via a third input signal. The system further includes a computer having one or more processors and a non-transitory computer readable medium. The processor is programmed to determine the location of the VRU and further determine the predicted collision between the second vehicle and the VRU. The processor is further programmed to generate a notification actuation signal associated with the VRU at a tracked location. The VRU notification device notifies the VRU that the second vehicle is headed toward the predicted collision site in the crosswalk.

Abstract: A method in a vehicle includes receiving a vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) message transmitted from a communication system affixed to infrastructure at a location. The V2I message includes at least one category of information among a plurality of categories of information and the plurality of categories of information include map-based information and road safety information. The method also includes determining, based on performing at least one type of verification, whether a misbehavior has occurred with respect to the V2I message. The misbehavior indicates incorrect information in the V2I message. A counter is maintained of a number of times the misbehavior has occurred with respect to the V2I message at the location, and the misbehavior is reported based on the counter.

Abstract: A system for sharing sensor data between a vehicle and a plurality of remote system generally includes a vehicle communication system, a three-dimensional (3D) sensor, and a controller. The controller is programmed to generate an initial 3D point cloud using the 3D sensor, generate an occupancy grid map based on the initial 3D point cloud, and select a producer remote system to provide data for a cell of the occupancy grid map classified as a first blindspot. The controller is further programmed to send a data request to the producer remote system using the vehicle communication system, receive data from the producer remote system including information about the cell of the occupancy grid map classified as the first blindspot, generate a merged 3D point cloud by merging the data received from the producer remote system with the initial 3D point cloud, and identify objects using the merged 3D point cloud.
