摘要:
A patient interface device includes a headgear component having a first end, a second end, and a sealing interface region located between the first end and the second end, wherein the sealing interface region has a hole extending through the elongated fabric body member. The patient interface device also includes a mask component having a cushion and a fluid coupling conduit fluidly coupled to the cushion, wherein at least a portion of the fluid coupling conduit extends through the hole and the sealing interface region covers at least a portion of the cushion. The cushion will be held and supported by the elongated fabric body member in engagement with a portion of the patient's face responsive to the patient interface device being donned by the patient by wrapping the elongated fabric body member around the head of the patient.

Nasal interface systems and related components. An embodiment of the system employs a nasal interface comprised of a base portion and a soft pad portion. The base portion employs one or more side-entry fluid supply hoses and flow redirection structure which gently and quietly redirects the flow of incoming fluid to avoid the creation of noise. One or more fluid supply hoses are connected to the one or more inlets, preferably by releasable engagement structure. The nasal interfaces of the invention are sleek, unobtrusive, visibly attractive and avoid exposure of expelled gases toward partners of the wearer.

A gas delivery system including a gas delivery device, a control module and a gas delivery mechanism is described. An exemplary gas delivery device includes a valve assembly with a valve and circuit including a memory, a processor and a transceiver in communication with the memory. The memory may include gas data such as gas identification, gas expiration and gas concentration. The transceiver on the circuit of the valve assembly may send wireless optical line-of-sight signals to communicate the gas data to a control module. Exemplary gas delivery mechanisms include a ventilator and a breathing circuit. Methods of administering gas are also described.

Patient interface, such as a nasal cannula, with a headgear. The interface has a soft face mount part with nasal prongs and a base portion, and a harder-material gases flow manifold part with an inlet and an outlet. Gas is delivered into the manifold inlet, and flows out through the outlet and into the base portion of the face mount. The outlet of the manifold part comprises a groove that creates a gap between the base portion of the face mount and the manifold part at a region adjacent to the philtrum, providing pressure relief on the septum. The headgear has straps. Portions of the headgear that contact facial regions have surface regions for frictionally engaging with the skin. The material in these regions can be in the form of sleeves or coatings or over-moulding. The remainder of the strap has different material properties from those contacting the facial region.

The invention relates to a pressure responsive respiratory valve apparatus for enabling positive pressure from a source of pressure to be applied to a user's airway, and allowing ingress of a breathable gas from an inlet port into a user's airway during inhalation and egress of expired tidal volume of air from the user's respiratory system to an exhalation port during exhalation. The invention minimises rebreathing of expired gas and optimizes delivery of pressurised breathable gas by venting gas only during exhalation, as well as addressing important user considerations including minimizing noise, pressure swing, and size.

Apparatus, systems, and methods are provided for treating obstructive sleep apnea. A unitary valve assembly removably located inside the exterior profile of a nasal pillow mask uses positive airway pressure from a low-flow hose to automatically create an on-demand therapeutic air splint in the pharynx. During inspiration the mask's valving system allows room air to be inspired. During exhalation another valve governs therapeutic backpressure equal to the prescribed pressure setting of the CPAP blower machine. The mask may be worn when the CPAP blower machine is off, and systems are provided for turning the CPAP blower machine on only when needed.

A nasal prong (26) for a cushion member adapted for use with a patient interface device that includes a casing (134,136), a flap (132) extending from the casing and being adapted to be inserted into a nostril of a patient, and a bottom cap (138). The casing and the bottom cap define a space. A fill material (140) is disposed in the space defined by the casing and the bottom cap, wherein the casing is structured to deform and conform to a shape of a portion of the nostril when the nostril applies pressure to the casing.

Nasal cannula devices formed with through air-flow passages and circular membranes anchored centrally to retainers and operative upon inhaling by the patient to raise off the peripheral edges of respective seats for free flow of air into the nasal passages and, further, operative upon exhalation by the patient to seat on the seats. The invention further includes a method introducing the cannula devices with cushioning rings to cushion against the walls of the walls of the nasal passages. In another method the invention includes manufacturing a barrel with proximal and distal glands to friction fit on a shell formed in the body of the cannula and receiving an annular retainer friction fit in the distal cannula to mount a sealing membrane.

Nasal cannula devices for insertion in a sleep apnea patient's nasal passages, the device is formed with through air-flow passages and having circular membranes operative upon inhaling by the patient to open for free flow of air into the nasal passages and, further, operative upon exhalation by the patient to block expiration by the patient. The invention further includes a method of providing for free flow of air into a patient's nasal passages upon inhaling and blocking air-flow form the nasal passages during exhalation.

A nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) device having a hollow body with a proximal wall, a distal wall, and an exhaust port extending through the distal wall. A proximal tubular member extends through the proximal wall of the body and is arranged such that a stream of gas entering the body through the proximal tubular member will exit the proximal tubular member in a first direction and then enter the exhaust port. A nozzle extends through the body and is arranged such that a stream of gas entering the body through the nozzle will exit the nozzle and then enter the proximal tubular member in a second direction that is opposite the first direction.
