摘要： A fully formulated crankcase lubricating oil composition containing between about 0.1 and 10 wt. % of a tetrapolymer of 4-vinylpyridine (4-VP), a first alkyl methacrylate of the formula: ##STR1## a second alkyl methacrylate of the formula: ##STR2## and a third alkyl methacrylate of the formula: ##STR3## where R is alkyl of from 1 to 6 carbons, R.sup.1 is alkyl of from 10 to 15 carbons and R.sup.2 is alkyl of from 16 to 20 carbons, of a molecular weight between about 25,000 and 2,500,000 having a component ratio of 4-VP:C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl methacrylate:C.sub.10 -C.sub.15 alkyl methacrylate:C.sub.16 -C.sub.20 alkyl methacrylate of between about 2:10:78:10 and 10:30:30:30 and between about 0.1 and 5 wt. % of a calcium containing rust inhibitor, said composition having a sulfated metal ash content of between about 0.05 and 1 wt. %.

摘要： A neutral oil soluble organosulfonic acid ammonium salt formed by reaction of C.sub.1 -C.sub.26 sulfonic acid with a nitrogen base chosen from the group consisting of mono-, di-, and tertiary amines, acid addition salts of such amines, or quaternary ammonium compounds, the nitrogen base having at least one hydrocarbyl group containing from about C.sub.1 to C.sub.36 carbon atoms, is added to an oil composition to improve the load-carrying capacity of the oil composition. The sulfonic ammonium salts are particularly effective in synthetic ester lubricants used in turbine engines. The oil compositions of this invention are also compatible with the silicone and fluorosilicone seals used in such engines.

The polyoxyalkylene group can be derived from ethylene, propylene, butylene or styrene oxides. The blends have superior oxidative and thermal stability and at the same time have good viscosity characteristics and pour points over a wide range of temperatures.
