Abstract:
A gas-barrier laminate (10) of a structure in which a first inorganic barrier layer (3), a water-trapping layer (5) and a second inorganic barrier layer (9) are provided in this order on a plastic base material (1), wherein the water-trapping layer (5) is a layer in which a granular moisture-absorbing agent is dispersed in a matrix of an ionic polymer, the granular moisture-absorbing agent being capable of absorbing moisture to a degree lower than that attained by the matrix, and an organic layer (7) is provided between the water-trapping layer (5) and the second inorganic barrier layer (9), the organic layer (7) serving as an underlying layer for forming the second inorganic barrier layer. The water-trapping layer has excellent barrier property against water and is, at the same time, effectively suppressed from swelling despite it has absorbed moisture. The water-trapping layer is, further, effectively suppressed from losing its activity.
Abstract:
Provided herein are aqueous dispersions. The aqueous dispersions can comprise a first copolymer derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and a second carboxy-functional copolymer derived from one or more carboxylic acid-containing monomers. The aqueous dispersions can be used to prepare low- or zero-VOC aqueous coating compositions that possess desirable properties, including good block resistance and scrub resistance. Coatings and coating formulations comprising the aqueous dispersion, as well as methods of making and using the same are also provided.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an aqueous composition for surface coating, including: a main ingredient comprising a first compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group and combinations thereof, per molecule; a curing agent comprising a second compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of an aziridine group, an isocyanate group, a carbodiimide group and combinations thereof, per molecule; and an aqueous solvent. Further, an automotive sheet using the aqueous composition for surface coating is disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of different-sized polymeric microparticles in hydraulically setting building material mixtures for the purpose of enhancing their frost resistance and cyclical freeze/thaw durability.
Abstract:
A process for preparing an encapsulated particulate solid using an epoxy functional cross-linking agent and a carboxylic acid functional dispersant wherein the cross-linking agent has one or more oligomeric dispersing group and/or the dispersant has an acid value of at least 125 mg KOH/g. The resultant solids are useful in, for example, ink jet printing inks.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a shaped article having a photochromic coating thereon, and curable photochromic powder coating compositions are described. The method includes: applying at least one curable powder coating composition to at least a portion of the interior of a mold, e.g., a lens mold, wherein at least one of the applied powder coating compositions includes a photochromic amount of photochromic material; curing at least partially the applied photochromic powder coating; charging a polymerizable organic casting composition into the mold; polymerizing the casting composition; and removing a shaped article having a photochromic coating on at least a portion of its surface from the mold.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a coating composition for PVC sections, based on a polymeric vehicle, a crosslinking agent, and a thermoplastic resin powder. The coating composition is particularly useful for coating PVC sections for windows, shutters, and doors. PVC joinery coated with the composition of the invention has exceptional impact strength and resistance to abrasion, friction, and inclement weather.
Abstract:
An aqueous coating composition for the manufacture of precoated metal is based on an aqueous resin having a carboxyl group in a molecule and neutralizable with a basic material as a binder, the aqueous resin being selected from an acrylic copolymer resin, polyester resin, and polyurethane resin. A mono- or poly-carbodiimide compound is blended with the aqueous resin. The composition forms a coating having improved chemical resistance, water resistance, and adhesion to sheet metal.
Abstract:
The use of a two layer photoimageable, aqueous processable, resist with an amphoteric binder in the layer laminated directly to a printed circuit board provides a permanent coating with improved adhesion throughout the lamination process while maintaining other desirable properties such as storage stability and circuit encapsulation.
Abstract:
A thermosetting composition comprising (A) a carboxyl group-containing polyol resin, (B) a hydrolyzable silyl group-containing polymer, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of (C) a dehydrating agent and (D) an alcohol. The composition of the present invention is excellent in the physical properties of the film as well as the storage stability of the coating composition compared to the known compositions containing the curing catalyst.
