Also disclosed is a process of preparing a thermoplastic or thermoset foam by using such azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions as blowing agents. Also disclosed is a process of producing refrigeration by using such azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions. The disclosure provides a process for making a self-dispersing pigment having an isoelectric point of at least about 8 comprising: (a) providing a silica treatment on an inorganic particle and forming a slurry of silica treated inorganic particles; (b) adding a dual functional compound with an acidic aluminum salt to form an aqueous solution, wherein the dual functional compound comprises: an anchoring group that attaches the dual-functional compound to the pigment surface, and a basic amine group comprising a primary, secondary or tertiary amine; (c) adding a base to the mixture from step (b) whereby the pH is raised to about 4 to about 9 to form a turbid solution; and (d) adding the mixture from step (c) to the slurry of silica treated inorganic particles whereby hydrous alumina and the dual functional compound are deposited on the silica treated inorganic particles to form an outermost treatment. The self-dispersing pigments prepared by this process are useful in making décor paper that may be used in paper laminates.

Provided herein are glass laminates having at least one glass layer and a nanofilled ionomeric interlayers comprising a nanofiller in a blend of a first ionomer and a second ionomer that is different from the first ionomer. The second ionomer is a water dispersable ionomer that allows for excellent dispersion of the nanofiller in the ionomer matrix. The laminates retain favorable performance properties such as high transparency while exhibiting lower creep or heat deflection.

A hydrodeoxygenation process for producing a linear alkane from a feedstock comprising a saturated or unsaturated C10-18 oxygenate that comprises an ester group, carboxylic acid group, carbonyl group and/or alcohol group is disclosed. This process comprises contacting the feedstock with (i) a catalyst comprising about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of a metal selected from Group IB, VIB, or VIII of the Periodic Table, and (ii) a heteropolyacid or heteropolyacid salt, at a temperature between about 150° C. to about 250° C. and a hydrogen gas pressure of at least about 300 psig. By contacting the feedstock with the catalyst and heteropolyacid or heteropolyacid salt under these temperature and pressure conditions, the C10-18 oxygenate is hydrodeoxygenated to a linear alkane that has the same carbon chain length as the C10-18 oxygenate.

Compositions related to the quantitative trait locus 6 (QTL6) in maize and methods for their use are provided. The compositions are novel molecular marker loci that are genetically linked with QTL6 and which are associated with increased oil content and/or increased oleic acid content and/or an increased oleic acid/linoleic acid ratio of a plant or plant part thereof. These novel markers are characterized by the presence of at least one polymorphism relative to the corresponding marker locus from the QTL6 region of non-high-oil, non-high-oleic acid maize plants. In some embodiments, the novel marker loci comprise coding sequence for a maize DGAT1-2 polypeptide or biologically active variant thereof. The marker loci of the invention, and suitable fragments thereof, are useful in methods of the invention for manipulating oil and/or oleic acid content and/or oleic acid/lineolic acid ratio of a plant or plant part thereof, for marker-assisted selection of a plant, for example, a maize plant, or plant part thereof, having an increased oil content and/or increased oleic acid content and/or an increased oleic acid/linoleic acid ratio, and for marker-assisted breeding of the high oil and/or high oleic acid trait.

Provided herein are glass laminates, preferably safety glass laminates, that comprise a polymeric interlayer sheet formed of an acid copolymer composition. The acid copolymer composition comprises an ethylene acid copolymer which, in turn, comprises copolymerized units of ethylene, about 5 to about 90 wt % of copolymerized units of a first α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid having 3 to 10 carbon atoms; and optionally about 2 to about 40 wt % of copolymerized units of a derivative of a second α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid having 3 to 10 carbon atoms. Optionally, a portion of the carboxylic acid groups of the copolymerized units of the ethylene acid copolymer are neutralized to form carboxylate salts. The acid copolymer composition also includes a hydroxyl-containing crosslinking agent and may also include an adjuvant. The glass laminates have superior resistance to creeping due to the properties of the acid copolymer composition, which may optionally be cross-linked.

The polyimide metal clad laminate does not have an adhesive layer between the metal foil and the polyimide layer.
