A method of controlling data transfer in a data transmission system which includes a plurality of video and/or audio data sources, a single transmitter operable to transmit data from the data sources over at least one transmission channel, a plurality of client receivers operable to receive transmitted data, the method comprising estimating available channel capacity for each client receiver, using parameters relating to the at least one transmission channel, and using information from the transmitter and receiver, and using information relating to queuing of data between the data sources and the transmitter; determining a target bit transmit rate for each client receiver in dependence upon the estimated channel capacity, a quality parameter, and an activity parameter for the client receiver concerned; and controlling the data sources and transmitter in dependence upon the determined bit transmit rate.

A three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound imaging system (10) for assessing scoliosis, the system (10) comprising: an ultrasound scanner (11) to capture ultrasound images; a spatial sensor (13) to record the position and orientation of the captured ultrasound images; and a software module (21) to mark features of vertebra in the captured ultrasound images, and the marked features (41) are connected with lines (42) in order to calculate angles and distances between the marked features (41) for the calculation of the Cobb angle and spinal rotation angle based on the calculated angles and distances; wherein the marked features (41) are a reflection of the surfaces of the vertebra.

An embodiment of the present invention is a technique to provide a parallel test mode for multi-core processors. A test access port (TAP) in a first processor core generates a first test data output (TDO) from a first test data input (TDI) or a first delayed TDI according to a TDO select bit. The first delayed TDI is clocked by a test clock (TCK). The first processor core has a first core circuit. The TAP generates a phase select word. A clock generator generates a clock signal synchronized with the TCK and has a low phase and a high phase. A first enable circuit enables first core data from the first core circuit in one of the low and high phases of the clock signal according to the phase select word.

A flame-retardant thermoplastic molding composition is disclosed. The composition contains aromatic polycarbonate resin and sufficient amounts of poly(tetrafluoroethylene) and sulfo-modified polyester, that are effective to impart to the composition flame resistance that in accordance with UL-94 standard is rated V-0 at {fraction (1/16)}″ thick specimens.
Abstract:
A bending mechanism for flexible waveguide uses a combination of an elongate arm (1), two short bracket arms (3 & 7) and a gear train (5, 11, 13 & 9) linking the bracket arms to bend a flexible waveguide (24) over a range of positions. The bend is formed to the shape of a circular arc the radius of which varies with the position. Each short bracket arm is pivotally connected (15 & 17) to a respective end of the elongate arm and to a respective one of the waveguide's two end flanges (23 & 25). Each bracket arm contains a gear that rotates with the respective bracket arm about the bracket arm's pivot; and an even number of gears interlinks those gears whereby pivotal movement of one of the flanges in a clockwise direction produces an effective relative pivotal movement of the other flange. The bending mechanism allows for as much as 180 degrees of repetitive reciprocal rotation of one flange relative to the other without imposing significant stress on the flexible waveguide, providing an ideal long lasting interface between a mechanically scanning microwave antenna and a microwave transmitter/receiver.
Abstract:
A package for a semiconductor die having a plurality of bonding pads about its periphery is provided. The package has a plastic molding encapsulating the semiconductor die. The package also has a plurality of conductive leads with leads having inner and outer portions, the inner portions encapsulated in the molding and arranged substantially in a plane and radially about the semiconductor die with ends displaced from and forming a rectangle with four corners about the die. A bonding wire extends from each of the bonding pads to one of the inner portions of the leads. Bonding wire loop heights of approximately 8 mils are made with a specially designed tip of a capillary tool. The package also has a pair of leads with inner portions at opposite corners of the rectangle, each of the inner portions connected to a pair of bonding wires from a pair of contiguous bonding pads on the die. This double wiring arrangement prevents wire sweep during the injection molding step. Bonding pad pitches of 4 mils or less on the semiconductor die are possible.

An apparatus for the bending of a flexible conduit having first and second ends includes first and second assemblies which are fixed for relative rotation with the first and second ends. An axis of rotation passes through the first and second assemblies. The apparatus further includes a driven gear fixed for rotation with the first assembly. The driven gear is adapted to cooperate with a drive gear to rotate the first assembly with respect to the second assembly. The first assembly includes a first extendable portion which attaches directly to the first end. Similarly, the second assembly includes a second extendable portion which attaches directly to the second end. The first and second assemblies function to vary the distance between the axis of rotation and the first and second ends as the first assembly is rotated with respect to the second assembly.

Various embodiments of adjustable pillows and methods of manufacturing them are described, in which the pillow has inner and outer pockets with the inner pocket disposed within the outer pocket. One or more cords or other adjustment mechanisms can extend along a length of the pillow and be used to move one or both side of the pillow toward one another, changing a size of the pillow and thereby increasing its firmness.

This invention relates to a method and system of transmitting video data and multimedia data to a plurality of client radio receivers over an air interface using an adaptive encoding/transcoding scheme and updating the adaptive encoding/transcoding scheme in dependence upon received feedback data. A system and method is also described that includes estimating channel states and distortion levels for a plurality of transmission modes, then selecting that transmission mode for subsequent data transmission that has the lowest distortion level. Control data items can also be extracted from the first data stream to produce a multimedia data stream and a control data stream and the multimedia data stream is transmitted over a first channel; and the control data stream is transmitted over a second channel. The received data stream may be put into a plurality of multimedia slices having a predetermined slice size; and encoded into first data packets of a first predetermined size; which in turn are divided into respective integral second data packets of a second predetermined size and which are aggregated into a stream of third data packets of a third predetermined size.
