Abstract:
A beverage brewing system having, inter alia, a brew hopper, a hydraulic siphoning component affixed thereto and a solenoid-actuated door switch mechanism. The beverage brewing system includes a hydraulic siphoning component configured to allow hot water to bloom and steep for a controlled amount of time in a brew hopper. The beverage brewing system further includes a brew-hopper agitation mechanism.
Abstract:
A copolymeric material is described that is suitable for use in a hole transport layer of organic electroluminescent device. The copolymeric material contains a phosphorous-containing group selected from a phosphate or phosphonate group and tertiary amino group selected from a triarylamino group or carbazolyl group.
Abstract:
Methods of using compounds which are progesterone receptor agonists for contraception and the treatment of progesterone-related maladies alone or in combination with an estrogen receptor agonist or progesterone receptor antagonist are provided. These compounds have the structure: wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and Q1 are defined herein.
Abstract:
Provided is an organic thin film transistor comprising a polymeric layer interposed between a gate dielectric and an organic semiconductor layer. Various homopolymers, copolymers, and functional copolymers are taught for use in the polymeric layer. An integrated circuit comprising a multiplicity of thin film transistors and methods of making a thin film transistor are also provided. The organic thin film transistors of the invention typically exhibit improvement in one or more transistor properties.
Abstract:
This invention relates to methods of co-administering compounds of formula 1 which are agonists of the progesterone receptor which have the general structure: wherein: R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and Q1 are as defined herein, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, with estrogen, an estrone, or an estrogen receptor agonist for contraception, hormone replacement therapy, or treating progesterone-related carcinomas and adenocarcinomas.
Abstract:
Organic polymers for use in laminates including capacitors, wherein the polymer includes repeat units of the formula: wherein: each R1 is independently H, an aryl group, Cl, Br, I, or an organic group that includes a crosslinkable group; each R2 is independently H, an aryl group or R4; each R3 is independently H or methyl; each R5 is independently an alkyl group, a halogen, or R4; each R4 is independently an organic group that includes at least one CN group and has a molecular weight of about 30 to about 200 per CN group; and n=0-3; with the proviso that at least one repeat unit in the polymer includes an R4.
Abstract:
A curling iron providing angular adjustment of a heatable wand to a handle is disclosed. The curling iron comprises a pivot joint between the elongated handle and the elongated heatable wand. A manual detent is biased to constrain the pivot joint against rotation, thereby locking the elongated heatable wand in a selected position relative to the handle, and to release the wand for adjustment to another position. Release and adjustment may be performed by operating a manual control to release the pivot joint and rotating a wheel of the pivot joint to adjust angle of the wand relative to the handle. Alternatively, a single manual control can be manipulated to both release the pivot joint and also adjust the angle of the wand.
Abstract:
This invention incorporates a rotating spindle inside the high heel of a dress shoe, which transforms the downward heel impact into rotational energy, thus absorbing the impact while massaging the foot. The spindle is visible from the outside of the heel and has decorative crystals, lights or other eye catching ornamentation to attract attention when the spindle rotates. The rotating spindle also passes vibrations through the wearer's skeletal system for a soothing effect.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to equipment utilized to manufacture chemical agents, particularly biopharmaceuticals. In some embodiments, reactor systems comprising a mobile carriage assembly; a disposable reaction container removably attached to the carriage assembly; and, a carriage holder into which the mobile carriage assembly may be removably inserted are provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to curved focal plane arrays. More specifically, the present invention relates to a system and method for making solid-state curved focal plane arrays from standard and high-purity devices that may be matched to a given optical system. There are two ways to make a curved focal plane arrays starting with the fully fabricated device. One way, is to thin the device and conform it to a curvature. A second way, is to back-illuminate a thick device without making a thinned membrane. The thick device is a special class of devices; for example devices fabricated with high purity silicon. One surface of the device (the non VLSI fabricated surface, also referred to as the back surface) can be polished to form a curved surface.
