摘要: A data processing implemented method and system and article of manufacture are provided for determining compatibility between a primary instance and a standby instance, the primary instance being characterized by a first log position indicator and a primary log chain fingerprint (FP-P) and the secondary instance being characterized by a second log position indicator and a secondary log chain fingerprint (FP-S); the FP-P and the FP-S each uniquely identifying a prescribed history of an associated data processing system. The method, for example, includes a series of steps comprising: comparing the first log position indicator with the second log position indicator to determine compatibility between the secondary instance and the primary instance; comparing the primary log chain fingerprint (FP-P) with the secondary log chain fingerprint (FP-S) to determine compatibility between the secondary instance and the primary instance; and indicating that the secondary instance is compatible with the primary instance when both of the above comparisons determine compatibility.

摘要: Building a database from stored backup data images. In one aspect, an identification of a target image is received, the target image including a copy of a logical storage unit of data from a previous database and description information that describes the previous database. The target image holds a copy of a subset of the data of the previous database. A received list has at least one desired logical storage unit of data from the previous database to be included in a built database. The desired logical storage unit is restored from at least one stored data image to the built database using the description information in the target image. Other aspects include the target image being a database image, and the desired logical storage units of data being a subset of database data.

摘要: A valve manifold that is adapted to be positioned between a main flow line and a measuring instrument, including a body; a pair of fluid flow passages in said body, each having one port for coupling with the main flow line and an opposite end port for coupling with the measuring instrument; a pair of valve members for controlling the fluid flow through the respective pair of fluid flow passages; and a pair of handles for respectively controlling said pair of valve members. Each of the valve members includes a control end coupling with a respective handle to control the position of the valve member and a valving end adapted for positioning in a valve passage that extends transverse to the fluid flow passage. Each valve member further has a resilient seal member that is supported by either the body or valve member and that, in a closed position, provides a seal about the fluid flow passage between the valve member and body so as to inhibit fluid flow through the fluid flow passage, and that, in at least a partially open position, enables fluid flow through the fluid flow passage.

摘要: The present invention comprises an implantable device that provides artificial tissues for repair, augmentation and reconstructive surgery which have mechanical properties comparable to the natural tissues that they supplement or replace. Such devices can be produced by a tissue engineering method comprising seeding a polymer matrix with a first cell type and a second cell type and culturing the seeded matrix under conditions suitable for cell growth or maintenance, whereby a tissue comprising a mixed cell population containing both the first and second cell types is produced. The tissue produced by this method contains a mixed population in which the two cell types are intimately associated without apparent stratification and has mechanical properties which are intermediate between similarly produced tissues containing either one of the two cell types. This invention is particularly useful in forming implantable structural members.

摘要: This invention is directed to a new approach to form porous hydrogel materials by first creating gas pockets in the gel and then removing this gas. The removal of the gas creates a porous material, and the initial incorporation of sufficient gas allows one to create a material with an open, interconnected pore structure. Advantageous features of the resulting materials, in addition to their interconnected pore structure, may include that the pore structure is maintained over extended time periods and that the gels maintain a high mechanical integrity that allows seeding with cells and implantation without destruction or compression of the material.

摘要: An apparatus for the combustion of organic waste such as poultry litter/manure, cow manure and swine manure, and/or human waste, and/or biomass using a moving grate over a stationary perforated plate to convert organic waste into usable energy. The unprocessed fuel is fed into the combustion chamber through a feed hopper by a moving grate being continuously pulled over a stationary perforated plate. The raw fuel is metered using a guillotine gate apparatus to control the depth of the fuel bed on the moving grate. Temperature controlled combustion air is directed under the stationary perforated plate (under fire air) into discreet controllable under fire air zones to initiate and drive the combustion process. The stationary plate is sectioned to match the discreet under fire air zones with holes and/or slots (perforations) shaped and sized for proper under fire air distribution and pressure drop through the plate. The under fire air is forced through the stationary perforated plate up through the moving grate into the moving bed of fuel. Additional temperature controlled combustion air is directed above the fuel bed to the over fire air nozzles positioned at strategic locations in the combustion chamber for complete combustion and emission control. The moving grate continues to pull the combusted fuel (ash) out of the combustion chamber and deposits it into an ash collection chamber equipped with automatic ash removal system. A conventional heat recovery unit (i.e. boiler, air heater or similar) placed over the combustion chamber converts the heat from the combustion process into a usable product. A boiler produces steam for process purposes and/or to generate electricity.
