A catalyst applicable to the synthesis gas conversions especially E-T slurry processes, said catalyst comprising: a) a support containing at least a first aluminate element of mixed spinel structure of formula MxM′(1−x)Al2O4/Al2O3.SiO2, x ranging between and excluding 0 and 1, or of simple spinel structure of formula MAl2O4/Al2O3.SiO2, said support being calcined in an at least partly oxidizing atmosphere, at a temperature ranging between 850° C. and 900° C., and b) an active phase deposited on said support, which contains one or more group VIII metals, selected from among cobalt, nickel, ruthenium or iron. Said catalyst is used in a fixed bed or suspended in a three-phase reactor for hydrocarbon synthesis from a CO, H2 mixture.

The invention relates to a catalyst which can be applied to a method for converting synthesis gas, said catalyst comprising: a) a support made of a solid solution containing at least one first aluminate element with a mixed spinel structure of formula MxM′(1-X)AI2O4/AI203.SiO2, x ranging from 0 to 1 being excluded, or a simple spinel structure of formula MAI2O4/AI2O3 SiO2, wherein the support is calcinated in an at least partially oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature ranging from 850° C. to 900° C., b) an active phase which is deposited on the support which contains one or several metals of group VIII, selected from amongst cobalt, nickel, ruthenium or iron. The catalyst is used in a fixed bed or in a suspension in a triphasic reactor for the synthesis of hydrocarbons from a CO, H2 mixture.

For desulfurization and, if necessary, for denitrification of hydrocarbon fractions the hydrocarbon mixture is brought into contact with a non-aqueous ionic liquid of general formula Q+A−, wherein Q+ is a ammonium, phosphonium or sulfonium cation, that contains at least one alkylating agent of the formula RX−, making it possible to form ionic sulfur-containing derivatives (and, if necessary, nitrogen-containing derivatives) that have a preferred solubility in the ionic liquid; and the ionic liquid is separated from the hydrocarbon mixture that is low in sulfur and nitrogen by decanting.
