摘要: An apparatus includes an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection device configured to protect a circuit from ESD conditions. The protection device includes an emitter region having a first diffusion polarity; a collector region laterally spaced apart from the emitter region, and having the first diffusion polarity; and a barrier region interposed laterally between the emitter region and the collector region while contacting the emitter region. The barrier region has a second diffusion polarity opposite from the first diffusion polarity. The device can further include a base region having the second diffusion polarity, and laterally surrounding and underlying the emitter region and the barrier region. The barrier region can have a higher dopant concentration than the base region, and block a lateral current flow between the collector and emitter regions, thus forming a vertical ESD device having enhanced ESD performance.

摘要: A method of transmitting data according to a data transmission protocol wherein the data is transmitted as a plurality of data frames and each data frame includes an error checking field comprising at least two sub-fields, the data of the first sub-field being formed by a first error checking method performed on data of the frame and the data of the second sub-field being formed by a second error checking method performed on the said data of the frame, the first and second methods being such that the data of the first sub-field has different error checking properties from those of the data of the second sub-field.

摘要: A controller for a flowmeter includes an input module operable to receive a sensor signal from a sensor connected to a vibratable flowtube. The sensor signal is related to a fluid flow through the flowtube. The controller also includes a signal processing system operable to receive the sensor signal, determine sensor signal characteristics, and output drive signal characteristics for a drive signal applied to the flowtube. An output module is operable to output the drive signal to the flowtube and a control system is operable to modify the drive signal and thereby maintain oscillation of the flowtube during a transition of the flowtube from a substantially empty state to a substantially full state.

摘要: A method for forming data received from a data source into frames for transmission over a data link according to a protocol in which data is carried as data frames and in which once transmission of the data frame begun the entirety of the data frame must be transmitted at no less than a pre-set data rate, the method comprising: including in a frame traffic data formed from data received for transmission from the data source, and if insufficient data received for transmission from the data source is available to transmit the frame at the pre-set data rate, including in the frame padding data, the padding data being of a predetermined format distinguishable from the traffic data.

摘要: A communications system may include at least one wireless communications device and at least one electronic mail (email) server for storing email messages for the at least one wireless communications device. The system may further include an email relay server for detecting a new email message on the at least one email server and, based thereon, sending a short message service (SMS) notification with a unique message identifier (ID) of the new email message to the at least one wireless communications device. Moreover, the at least one wireless communications device may detect the SMS notification and send an email retrieval request to the email relay server instructing the email relay server to retrieve the new email message based upon the unique message ID.
