Crystalline polypropylene contains components insoluble in 64° C. decane satisfying the characteristics involving intrinsic viscosity; Mz/Mn; pentadvisotacticity, D value and Mw/Mn, are excellent in hardness and rigidity, high in melt tension, and excellent in molding properties. Processes for preparing such crystalline polypropylenes, and polypropylene compositions and thermoformed products that contain such crystalline polypropylenes are also described. The number-average molecular weight Mn of the components insoluble in 64° C. decane is preferably 25000 or more.

Disclosed is a solid titanium catalyst component for olefin polymerization comprising magnesium, titanium, halogen, and (C) a phthalic diester represented by the following structural formula (i): ##STR1## wherein R is a branched hydrocarbon group of 7 carbon atoms, and two or R may be the same as or different from each other. Also disclosed are a process for preparing the solid titanium catalyst component, an olefin polymerization catalyst containing said solid titanium catalyst component and a process for olefin polymerization using the olefin polymerization catalyst. According to the present invention, the olefin polymer having high stereoregularity can be produced in a prominently high yield per catalyst unit.

The present invention provides processes for preparing olefin polymers, by which olefin polymers composed of a propylene block copolymer component and an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer component are directly prepared by polymerization and olefin polymers excellent in impact resistance as well as in mechanical strength such as rigidity, moldability and heat resistance can be prepared. In the processes of the invention, a step (i) for preparing a crystalline polypropylene component and a step (ii) for preparing a low-crystalline or non-crystalline ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer component are carried out in an arbitrary order using an olefin polymerization catalyst to form a propylene block copolymer component; then another catalyst component is added to the polymerization system; and a step (iii) for preparing a low-crystalline or non-crystalline ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer component is carried out. The components of the olefin polymerization catalyst used for preparing the propylene block copolymer component and the components of another catalyst used for preparing the ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer component (iii) are selected from (A) a solid titanium catalyst component, (B) an organometallic compound, (C) an electron donor, (D) a specific transition metal compound containing a ligand having cyclopentadienyl skeleton, (E-1) an organoaluminum oxy-compound and (E-2) Lewis acid or ionic compound.

There is further provided a memory for pre-storing the rotational speed data for each rotational angle of the rotary cam mechanism according to a variation pattern of load applied to the stepping motor together with the rotation of the rotary cam mechanism. The rotational speed of the stepping motor is controlled accoding to the rotational speed data corresponding toe ach rotational angle of the rotary cam mechanism read out of the memory.

A process for producing an olefin polymer is provided, in which ethylene and at least one kind or more of monomers selected from α-olefins are polymerized by a high temperature solution polymerization in a temperature range between 120 and 300° C., in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst composed of a bridged metallocene compound represented by general formula [I] described below and at least one kind or more compounds (B) selected from (b-1) an organoaluminum oxy-compound, (b-2) a compound capable of forming an ion pair in a reaction with the bridged metallocene compound mentioned above, and (b-3) an organoaluminum compound. According to the high temperature solution polymerization of the present invention, it has become possible to obtain a polymer having a high molecular weight with high polymerization activity that was so far unattainable, and when the polymer is a copolymer, it is a process for producing a high molecular weight olefin polymer with a large comonomer content, a narrow composition distribution, and a narrow molecular weight distribution.

Provided is an ethylene polymer of the present invention, which is a copolymer of ethylene and an α-olefin having 4 to 10 carbon atoms, and satisfies the following conditions [1] to [4] simultaneously: [1] an MFR is in the range of 0.10 to 100 g/10 min, [2] a density (D) is in the range of 860 to 930 kg/m3, [3] a ratio (Mw/Mn) of the weight average molecular weight to the number average molecular weight is in the range of 1.50 or more and 3.00 or less, and [4] it satisfies a specific relationship, in accordance with the MFR value of the condition [1], between the ratio (H/W) of the height (H) of a peak having a highest peak intensity to the width (W) at a half of the height of the peak having the highest peak intensity for an elution curve obtained by a temperature rising elution fractionation, and the density (D). The molded products of the invention including the ethylene polymers of the invention have excellent anti-blocking property and low temperature heat sealing property, as well as excellent mechanical strength and thus are suitably applicable to a film and the like.

There are provided a polyolefin resin composition having excellent mechanical properties and thermal resistance; a film formed of the polyolefin resin composition, which has excellent mechanical properties and thermal resistance and which is less likely to suffer from fisheyes; a microporous membrane having excellent permeability and shutdown properties in addition to the above-mentioned physical properties; and applications thereof. Such objects are accomplished by a polyolefin resin composition containing an ultra-high molecular weight ethylene polymer (A), a 4-methyl-1-pentene polymer or 3-methyl-1-pentene polymer (B), and a polymer of an olefin having 2 to 12 carbon atoms (C) at an intended ratio.
