A composition for viscous fluid coupling is described. The composition comprises a liquid organopolysiloxane and a reaction product of a liquid organopolysiloxane with an aromatic aminophenol in the presence of a quaternary phosphonium hydroxide. The composition is characterized by a long term stability, undergoing little torque variation even at elevated temperatures and high shear forces.

A thermal stabilizer for organopolysiloxane oils is disclosed. The stabilizer is formed by the reaction of (A) an organopolysiloxane with (B) an aromatic aminophenol in the presence of (C) a quaternary phosphonium hydroxide, or in the presence of both the quaternary phosphonium hydroxide comprising component (C) and (D) an organopolysiloxane cyclic. Organopolysiloxane oils containing said thermal stabilizer are not subject to viscosity increases or gelation in long-term heating at high temperatures. Furthermore, such combinations show very little viscosity decline in long-term heating at high temperatures.

A mixture of an organopolysiloxane fluid, a zirconium-containing organosiloxane compound having at least one zirconium atom and at least one siloxane unit, and a cerium-containing organosiloxane compound having at least one cerium atom and at least one siloxane unit is an organopolysiloxane viscous coupler fluid which can be used in gear systems. These coupler fluids undergo little viscosity increase or decrease and little torque variation at elevated temperature and under high shear over long periods of time.

A curable silicone composition which comprises: (A) an organopolysiloxane represented by an average unit formula; (B) an organopolysiloxane that has not more than 10 silicon atoms wherein from 30 to 60 mole % of all silicon-bonded organic groups therein are C2-6191 alkenyl groups; (C) an organopolysiloxane represented by a general formula; (D) an organopolysiloxane that has at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms in one molecule wherein from 20 to 70 mole % of all silicon-bonded organic groups therein are phenyl groups; (E) a hydrosilylation reaction catalyst; (F) a white pigment; (G) a nonspherical silica or a glass fiber; and (H) a spherical silica, exhibits an excellent moldability and forms a cured product that exhibits little heat- and/or light-induced discoloration, little heat- and/or light-induced decline in mechanical strength, a high light reflectance, and an excellent dimensional stability.

A light emitting device is made by applying the composition onto a light source followed by curing. The composition provides a cured material with mechanical properties suited for use as an encapsulant for a light emitting device.
