A downshift control determines whether a commanded downshift is a downshift oriented toward minimum shock or a downshift oriented toward responsiveness, based on inputs from various sensors. The oil pressure on the hydraulic servo which controls the releasing-side friction engagement element is controlled based on the determined downshift type (DT), so that the releasing-side friction engagement element is released in accordance with a selected one of a plurality of release patterns, i.e., release patterns corresponding to different downshift type indexes (Dt). The releasing speed of the releasing-side friction engagement element is changed in accordance with the downshift type. By properly determining the type of downshift, it becomes possible to realize a shift of a type in accordance with the driver's intention.

Engagement side hydraulic pressure is swept up as a result of an arithmetic operation in torque phase speed change control. Disengagement side hydraulic pressure is calculated by initial speed change control, dependent on the engagement side hydraulic pressure. The engagement side hydraulic pressure is directly controlled and the disengagement side hydraulic pressure is indirectly controlled, i.e. responsive to the engagement side control. Consequently, the same control scheme can be executed regardless of power-on state or power-off state and regardless of vehicle operating conditions.

The resin composition for sealing semiconductors exhibits a low thermal expansion coefficient and a low elastic modulus, generates low stress when thermal shock is applied thereto and exhibits high heat resistance during soldering even after moisture absorption. Therefore, if the composition is used to seal large-scale semiconductor devices having high degree of integration or small-sized, this semiconductors such as flat packages, there semiconductors provide high reliability.

The present invention provides inspection of a transmission with higher precision and in a shorter period of time. Before a finished A/T is inspected, a V/B ASSY and an ECU are inspected together by a V/B tester in a subsidiary line. A solenoid current command value (a characteristic value inherent in the A/T) for a linear solenoid of the V/B ASSY is corrected and written into the ECU through CAN communication. Spring load of a return spring SP and stroke of the piston of a hydraulic servo for a frictional engagement element are measured. Actually measured values or corrected values of the spring load and the stroke are stored. In the final inspection of the A/T a finished-product tester reads the stored characteristic values and transmits them to the ECU integrated with the A/T through CAN communication. The characteristic values are then written into the ECU. The finished-product tester inspects the finished A/T product, using the characteristic values thus written into the ECU.
