摘要: A bone positioning guide may include a main body member, a shaft, and a bone engagement member. The shaft can be movably connected to the main body member and have the bone engagement member rotatably coupled to its distal end. The bone engagement member can have a surface configured to engage a bone. The main body member can also include a tip opposite the bone engagement member for engaging a second bone. In use, the bone engagement member may be positioned in contact with a medial side of a first metatarsal while the tip is positioned in contact with a lateral side of a different metatarsal, such as a second metatarsal. The shaft can then be moved to advance the bone engagement member toward the tip, causing realignment of the first metatarsal.

摘要: A variable angle osteotomy system is a de-rotation device capable of moving the first metatarsal toward the second metatarsal with a single hand, allowing the first metatarsal to be simultaneously rotated to proper anatomical position with the other hand. A de-rotation device that has a low profile and lays distal to first tarsometatarsal joint rests out of the surgeon's way while performing the osteotomy. A joint alignment feature allows the metatarsal cut slot to be placed at an exact distance from first tarsometatarsal joint. A feature allows alignment of the metatarsal cut guide to the long axis of first metatarsal. Two fixation elements to allow fixation of first metatarsal cut slot. A hinged attachment, between the metatarsal and cuneiform cut guides, allows rotation of the cuneiform cut slot relative to the fixated metatarsal cut slot. Two fixation elements allow fixation of the cuneiform cut slot to the cuneiform.

摘要: A guide for a bone cut comprises a guide base having an inner wall defining an opening. The inner wall has a plurality of detents distributed around the opening. The guide base has a proximal surface adapted to contact a skin of a person. An inner collar has one or more spring loaded devices extending outward from the inner collar in opposite directions. The inner collar is mountable with the spring loaded devices fitting within one or more of the plurality of detents. The inner collar has an inner wall defining a bore for receiving a cutting tool. The inner collar is configured to pivot the cutting tool about an axis, for cutting a bone. The axis lies along or parallel to a line along which the spring loaded devices lie.

摘要: The invention comprises a method for fixating bones in the foot by aligning the bones in their desired position, inserting a screw in the aligned bones, inserting at least one transverse element near the head or tip of the screw, and tightening the screw to compress the bones. The screw comprises a shaft having first and second ends with spirally wound screw threads beginning near the first end and extending along the shaft. Advantageously, the screw is cannulated and screw threads are formed on an interior surface of the cannulation. Illustratively, the transverse elements may be staples, open-ended washers, or open-ended nuts. Reduction instruments and drill guides used in the invention are also disclosed.
