For example, described herein are apparatuses including topical compositions that stimulate thermoreceptors on the subject's skin (e.g., forehead, hands, and/or feet) for a period of time to induce a sensation of temperature (heat or cold) without significantly altering the person's actual skin temperature to improve sleep quality, including reducing sleep-onset latency, enhancing depth of sleep, and/or extending the amount of time a subject sleeps. The subject may be suffering from insomnia or some other sleep disorder.

The tip of the intraosseous device may be configured to penetrate bone and bone marrow such that the tip is disposed in the bone marrow. In certain embodiments, the tip may also include a side port for delivering fluids into the bone marrow.

A loose-fitting bag is provided which encloses the surgical site by securing the open end(s) to the patient by closing means. A high friction scrub surface is provided in the bag. A method and apparatus are also provided for releasing antiseptic into the interior of the bag. The method provides that the surgical site can be scrubbed within the bag so as to properly prepare the skin for surgery. A temperature indicator for the antiseptic preparation is also provided.

The detection and therapeutic device can be used independently or can be paired with daily goods, such as shoes and the like. According to this arrangement, health condition can be detected at any time and automatic therapies can be achieved as sudden illnesses occur, and therefore, health risks can be reduced.
