Abstract: The techniques described herein provide, in one embodiment, a rapid-agitation mixer for food products that comprises a product holder configured to hold a sealed product cup containing a food product to be mixed, and a drive shaft along an agitation axis, the drive shaft configured to secure the product holder and product cup in place. The illustrative mixer also comprises a drive motor configured to reciprocate the drive shaft in opposing directions, where the product holder correspondingly reciprocates the product cup to churn the food product within the product cup.

Abstract: A gyroscopic rotational monitoring system may be utilized for monitoring one or more properties of rotatable container or vessel, and/or one or more properties of a displaceable material contained in the rotatable vessels. An exemplary aspect relates to the use of a gyroscope and periodicity sensor (e.g., accelerometer) to determine rotational speed of a concrete mixing drum, so that the slump or other property of the concrete can be monitored or adjusted such as by dosing with water, chemical admixtures, or mixture thereof.

Abstract: A device for measuring a thrust load acting on a rotor of a hermetically sealed kneader includes displacement sensors (19) and a load-calculating member. The displacement sensors (19) are configured to measure relative displacement along the axial direction of an outer ring-fixing member (17), which is for fixing the outer ring (16) of one end of a bearing (6), or a casing (18) with respect to an inner ring-fixing member (20), which is for fixing the inner ring (13) of the one end of the bearing (6), or the rotor (5). The load-calculating unit calculates the thrust load acting on the rotor (5) by multiplying the relative displacement measured by the displacement sensors (19) by a conversion coefficient.

Abstract: Described herein is an exemplary torque sensing assembly for a feed mixer that includes, a frame of a feed mixer, the frame having a first frame portion and a second frame portion; a transmission having at least two speeds, a housing, an input shaft, and an output shaft, a load cell secured to a second frame portion of the frame; a mounting plate having a first side portion and a second side portion situated opposite the first side, the transmission secured by a plurality of fasteners to a top surface of the mounting plate, hinge rotatably connecting the first side portion to the first frame portion, and a load contact point situated in contact with the load cell, wherein a resultant torque is impartable to the housing to provide a downward force on the load cell, via the load contact point.

Abstract: Determining the consistency of a mixture during a mixing process based on feedback from the mixer. The feedback may be indicative of the torque exerted on a motor shaft of the mixer. The consistency of the mixture may be determined based on the amount of torque, rate of change of torque, change in the rate of change of torque and/or a comparison of the torque information to a stored torque profile. The torque may be determined based on the current in the coils of a motor of the mixer (e.g., by measuring the voltage across a precision resistor in series with the coils). Alternatively, the feedback may be indicative of the angular velocity of the motor shaft, sound output by the mixer, vibration of the mixer, color of the mixture, or opacity of the mixture.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to compositions and methods for making a pharmaceutical composition by thermokinetic compounding, wherein the compositions include one or more thermolabile components, for example one or more active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients. The methods comprise thermokinetic processing of the thermolabile components into a composite by blending certain thermolabile components in a thermokinetic mixer using multiple speeds during a single, rotationally continuous operation. The composite can be further processed into pharmaceutical compositions by conventional methods known in the art, such as hot melt extrusion, melt granulation, compression molding, tablet compression, capsule filling, film-coating, or injection molding.

Abstract: A beverage mixing system/method allowing faster mixing/blending of frozen beverages is disclosed. The system/method in various embodiments utilizes inductive coupling to introduce heat into the frozen beverage during the mixing/blending process via a rotating driveshaft and attached mechanical agitator to speed the mixing/blending process. Exemplary embodiments may be configured to magnetically induce heat into the driveshaft and/or mechanical agitator mixing blade to affect this mixing/blending performance improvement. This heating effect may be augmented via the use of high power LED arrays aimed into the frozen slurry to provide additional heat input. The system/method may be applied with particular advantage to the mixing of ice cream type beverages and other viscous beverage products.

Abstract: A system and method for tailings disposal is disclosed. A coarse tailings feed stream and a coarse tailings crusher for crushing the coarse tailings feed stream is provided. A crushed coarse tailings stream may be produced by the coarse tailings crusher, and a disposal stream comprising the crushed coarse tailings stream may be discarded as geotechnically stable waste product. The system and method may further provide a fine tailings stream and a thickener configured to thicken/dewater the fine tailings stream and produce a thickener underflow fine tailings stream. The system and method may provide a mixer configured to mix the thickener underflow fine tailings stream and the crushed coarse tailings stream to form a combined tailings disposal stream. Dewatering apparatus may also be provided.

Abstract: A mixer nozzle assembly for mixing fluid introduced into a tank having a tank volume therein. Abstract: The present invention relates to an aerator apparatus. It comprises an aerator with at least one blade driven around a central axis, and a motor coupled to the at least one blade such that the operation of the motor in a first or a second direction results in the operation of the blade in a corresponding first or second direction. The aerator apparatus further comprises a control device comprising a monitoring mechanism to monitor the current drawn by the motor; and a control mechanism to control the direction of the motor. The monitoring mechanism detects a certain value of the current drawn by the motor and the control mechanism is adapted to direct the motor and coupled at least one blade operating in the first direction to do at least one of (i) stop and/or (ii) operate in the second direction. In preferred embodiments, the monitoring mechanism monitors the current drawn by the motor in relation to one or more of the voltage and frequency applied to the motor. An advantage of certain embodiments of the present invention is that they provide an economical unblocking solution for wastewater aerators where the control device detects a change in the current drawn by the motor, and instructs the motor to direct the aerator into a clean cycle to try to dislodge debris built up during normal flow, when the aerator is running clean.
