摘要: A method of constructing an inflatable fluidic actuator that includes generating a tube configuration with one or more shapes of fluid-impermeable membrane material, the tube configuration having a first tube end and a second tube end and an internal tube face and an external tube face. The method also includes coupling a first and second interface to the tube configuration at the first and second tube ends by respectively coupling each interface to the tube configuration at a respective tube end by generating at least one of: a first circumferential bond between the fluid-impermeable membrane material and one or more sidewalls of the interface; and an external face bond between fluid-impermeable membrane material at the tube end onto an external face of the interface.

摘要: For manufacturing composite parts (1) having an inner hollow moulded body (2) with openings (3), which are accessible from outside, the moulded body is introduced into a moulding tool on the mould walls on which a shell layer (11) was applied. The hollow space between the moulded body (2) and the shell layer (11) is filled with a thermally insulating plastic foam (12) which is foamed in the moulding tool and bonds to the moulded body and the shell layer. After removal, a moulded body is provided, which has a qualitatively good surface formed by the shell layer. Such a composite part is preferably used for connecting thermally insulating pipes.

摘要: Methods of manufacturing wall structures having high racking strength are described in this specification. The methods include spray applying a foam-forming composition into a cavity of a wall structure, wherein the wall structure is disposed in a climate-controlled spray application station and allowing the foam-forming material to expand within at least a portion of the cavity to form a foam layer deposited in the cavity. In the methods, the foam layer is formed in-situ during the manufacturing method, and the density of the foam layer is selected and the relative humidity and dew point of the air in the climate-controlled spray application station throughout the spray applying is selected so that the wall structure has a racking strength of at least 500 pounds per linear foot.

A second side of the adhesion promoting layer disposed towards the substrate has an affinity to bond with the substrate material.

The present invention further relates to composite elements obtained or obtainable by a method of the present invention and also to the method of using a composite element of the present invention as a vacuum insulation panel or as a thermal insulation material.

摘要: An erosion resistant aerodynamic fairing for a rotor blade. A fairing body is formed from at least one reinforcing fiber layer set in a cured resin. An erosion resistant pre-form is fixed to an outer surface of the fairing body. The erosion resistant pre-form comprises a thermoplastic film outer layer fused to a fiber substrate. The fiber substrate of the erosion resistant pre-form is impregnated with the cured resin of the fairing body which fixes at the preform to the fairing body.

摘要: Wind Turbine Blade (12) Leading Edge (24, 30, 88) Protection Method In a first aspect of the invention there is provided a method of applying an erosion shield (22) to a leading edge region (30) of a wind turbine blade (12). The method comprises providing a wind turbine blade (12) comprising a blade shell (26) having an aerodynamic profile and defining a leading edge region (30); providing an erosion shield (22) made of a polymer material, the erosion shield (22) having an inner surface (36) to be bonded to the leading edge region (30) of the blade shell (26), and an outer surface (38, 84, 98) to be exposed in use; activating (44) the inner surface (36) of the erosion shield (22), and cleaning (42) the inner surface (36) of the erosion shield (22) using a solvent. The method further comprises applying a layer of wet adhesive (66, 68, 72A) to the inner surface (36) of the erosion shield (22); applying a layer of wet adhesive (66, 68, 72A) to the leading edge region (30) of the blade shell (26); arranging the erosion shield (22) against the leading edge region (30) of the blade shell (26) such that wet-to-wet adhesive (66, 68, 72A, 72, 96) contact is established between the inner surface (36) of the erosion shield (22) and the blade shell (26), and curing the adhesive (66, 68, 72A, 72, 96) to bond the erosion shield (22) to the leading edge region (30) of the blade shell (26).
