Abstract:
A controlled elastic composite material which is produced by forming a flexible elastomer layer or layers on one or both surfaces of at least one member selected from the group consisting of (a) a longitudinally monoaxially oriented reticular web, (b) a transversally monoaxially oriented reticular web, (c) a woven or non-woven fabric composed of monoaxially oriented tapes, and (d) a stretched long fiber web in which long fibers are aligned almost in one direction.
Abstract:
A base fabric used for producing an adhesive tape and the adhesive tape with the same, which adhesive tape has good transversely tearable property and small in thickness, said base fabric being composed of at least one longitudinal base material of stretched unidirectionally aligned nonwoven fabric which is made by spinning a thermoplastic resin into a long filament nonwoven fabric and stretching it in one direction so as to aligne its filaments almost in one direction.
Abstract:
A personal communications system permits a wireless handset to access either a cellular mobile telephone system (CMTS) or a private wireless telephone system (WTS) which shares the CMTS frequency band by utilizing those CMTS channels which are idle in the area serviced by the WTS. The wireless handset automatically selects between the WTS and CMTS operating modes by maintaining a list of previously accessed WTS control channels and periodically scanning that list for a WTS available at the location of the handset. If a WTS control channel is not found in that list, then the handset periodically scans all possible WTS control channels for the purpose of registering on an available WTS. If no WTS is found, then the handset switches to CMTS mode. The scanning methodology permits the wireless handset to rapidly lock on to an available WTS which will provide service to the handset, so as to reduce the possibility of the wireless handset missing incoming paging signals.
Abstract:
An apparatus for purifying an exhaust gas for an internal combustion engine having units for the adsorption of HC gases in the exhaust gas, arranged in an exhaust manifold of the engine facing corresponding exhaust ports in such a manner that straight flows from the corresponding exhaust ports contact the corresponding adsorption units. A controller receives a signal indicating a temperature of one of a catalytic converter and the adsorption units. The controller sends a signal to a cooling apparatus, such as a fan, indicating a desired on condition of the cooling apparatus based on the temperature signal. The cooling apparatus is provided for generating air flows for cooling the adsorption units. The fan is operated when the engine, in a cold state, is started. The operation of the fan is continued until a catalytic converter arranged downstream from the adsorption units becomes effective, i.e. the temperature of the catalytic converter is higher than a predetermined value.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for preparing thin films, a device, an electronic and magnetic apparatus, an information recording and reproducing apparatus, an information processing apparatus and a crystal preparing method from the molten state. A thin film is prepared as the substrate or the surface of the substrate is being excited and characterized by a device having at least a substrate and a thin film with at least one layer prepared thereon and an electronic and magnetic apparatus having integration of the devices, wherein at least one layer of the thin film is prepared as the surface of the substrate is being excited. The recording and reproducing apparatus for recording and reproducing information is composed of an information memory medium device having a recording layer of the thin film prepared as the surface of the substrate is being excited and a recording head whose core is prepared as the surface of the substrate is being excited. An information processing apparatus for use in input, record, process and output of information is composed of an information memory medium device having a recording layer which is prepared as the surface of the substrate is being excited and a processing part having a semiconductor device with a thin film prepared as the surface of the substrate is being excited.
Abstract:
The exhaust emission containing large and small particles, discharged from an exhaust port of a cylinder No. 1 of an engine during a first exhaust stroke collides with a first adsorbent opposed to the exhaust port, so that some of the small particles of HC enter a connecting gas passage. Since the latter is not connected to a second adsorbent for a cylinder No. 3 in which a second exhaust stroke consecutively occurs, the exhaust gas discharged from the first cylinder can be easily introduced in the first adsorbent and in the connecting gas passage. When the cylinder No. 4 changes to an exhaust stroke, the exhaust gas discharged therefrom is introduced in the connecting gas passage through the corresponding adsorbent to move the HC remaining in the connecting gas passage toward the first adsorbent. Thus, the HC is adsorbed again by the first adsorbent and little is discharged into the air. Consequently, the HC adsorbing efficiency can be enhanced.
Abstract:
An automatic conveying apparatus has a lower conveyor, an upper conveyor, and a distribution conveyor. The upper conveyor is associated with a first photoelectric sensor, and the lower conveyor is associated with a second photoelectric sensor. A workpiece delivered from a transfer press at a first speed V.sub.1 is fed onto the distribution conveyor which is actuated also at the first speed V.sub.1. After the first photoelectric sensor or the second photoelectric sensor is turned on by the workpiece until it is turned off, the workpiece is conveyed at a second speed V.sub.2 greater than the first speed V.sub.1 by the distribution conveyor. The workpiece is transferred from the distribution conveyor to the lower conveyor or the upper conveyor which is actuated at the second speed V.sub.2.
Abstract:
An adsorption apparatus provided with a means for physically separating and removing moisture, such as a cyclone type separating means or metal honeycomb or other cooling and condensing means, at the upstream side of a hydrocarbon adsorbent so as to enable the hydrocarbons exhausted at the time of engine start-up to be efficiently adsorbed by eliminating the decline in the adsorption power caused by the moisture in the exhaust gas.
Abstract:
A method and system for preventing fraudulent use in a cellular system whereby upon establishment of communication with said micro cellular system, a maintenance console transmits an identifier to the control unit of said micro cellular system. The control unit compares the transmitted identifier to a stored value and controls the operation of the micro cellular system based upon said comparison. Operations of the micro cellular system are terminated if said transmitted value does not match said stored value and maintained if a match is found. The control unit additionally includes a time limit timer which is set upon activation of the control unit and is adapted to be reset upon command from the maintenance console, which command accompanies each communication for which access is maintained. Operation of the micro cellular system is terminated when said time limit expires without resetting.
