摘要:
Exemplary methods, systems and components disclosed herein provide propagation of light signals from an external source to a borehole mining mole which includes an optical/electric transducer configured to provide propulsive power for the borehole mining mole and its associated mineral prospecting tools. Some embodiments include one or more umbilicals connected from a remote source location to an onboard reel incorporated with the borehole mining mole. The umbilicals are spooled outwardly or inwardly from the onboard reel during traverse of the borehole mining mole along a path in an earthen environment.

One aspect relates to deriving at least one first visualization, image, or provided information via Compton scattering substantially within an at least some matter of an at least a portion of an individual at least partially as a result of directing an at least one first applied X-ray having an at least one first energy level towards the at least some matter of the at least the portion of the individual; deriving at least one second visualization, image, or provided information via Compton scattering substantially within the at least some matter of the at least the portion of the individual at least partially as a result of directing an at least one second applied X-ray having an at least one second energy level toward the at least some matter of the at least the portion of the individual; and deriving at least one combined visualization, combined image, or combined provided information at least partially by combining the at least one first visualization, image, or provided information with the at least one second visualization, image, or provided information.

One aspect relates to locating an at least one scattering event at least partially within an at least some matter of an at least a portion of an individual at least partially by directing an at least one pulse-type applied X-ray at the at least some matter of the at least the portion of the individual to create an at least one corresponding pulse-type Compton scattered X-ray, wherein the locating the at least one scattering event is based at least in part on an at least one time of flight computation derived at least in part from a combination of an at least one applied duration and an at least one scattered duration, wherein the at least one applied duration corresponds to a time for the at least one pulse-type applied X-ray to reach the at least one scattering event within the at least some matter of the at least the portion of the individual, and further wherein the at least one scattered duration corresponds to a time for the at least one corresponding pulse-type Compton scattered X-ray to thereupon travel from the at least one scattering event within the at least some matter of the at least the portion of the individual to be detected.

Methods of controlling the operation of a device traveling in a body tube tree, including determining a time based on a signal from a timing device and performing an action based on the determined time, implemented with a control system located partially or fully on the lumen traveling device. Various actions can be performed by the device for, e.g., medical or therapeutic purposes. Machine-readable media including instructions for performing the methods are also described.

Devices, compositions, and methods are described which provide a tubular nanostructure targeted to a lipid bilayer membrane. The targeted tubular nanostructure can have a surface region configured to pass through a lipid bilayer membrane of a cell, a hydrophobic surface region flanked by two hydrophilic surface regions configured to form a pore in a lipid bilayer membrane of a cellular organelle, and at least one ligand configured to bind one or more cognates on the lipid bilayer membrane of the cellular organelle. The target cell can be, for example, a tumor cell, an infected cell, or a diseased cell in a subject. The tubular nanostructure can form a pore in the lipid bilayer membrane of the cellular organelle, e.g., mitochondria, which can permit transit or translocation of at least one compound across the membrane and cause cell death of the target cell.

Embodiments of a lumenally-active system and method of use and control thereof are disclosed. According to various embodiments, a lumenally-active device is positioned in a body lumen of an organism, where the device may sense a parameter of a fluid in the body lumen and perform an action on the fluid. Control logic and/or circuitry may be located on the device, or the system may include a separate control module. Liquid or gaseous fluids may be treated by embodiments of the device. Actions may include, for example, modification of a body fluid by addition or removal of a material, or by modification of a property of a body fluid or a component thereof.
