    Abstract: A vehicle capability broadcaster may receive information indicating a condition in an environment where an AV may operate. The vehicle capability broadcaster determines a first vehicle capability parameter and a second vehicle capability parameter based on the condition. The vehicle capability parameters may indicate capabilities of the AV for making different types of motions, e.g., limits of the AV making different motions. The vehicle capability broadcaster may transmit the first vehicle capability parameter to a first planning module and transmit the second vehicle capability parameter to a second planning module. The first planning module and the second planning module may plan one or more motions of the AV in the operation based on the vehicle capability parameters. The vehicle capability broadcaster may update a vehicle capability parameter and transmit the updated vehicle capability parameter to one of the planning modules after the one or more motions are planned.

    Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine; an electric machine; a transceiver, programmed to communicate with a server; and a controller, programmed to responsive to identifying a route, obtain road data associated with the route via the transceiver, wherein the road data include locations of stop signs and traffic lights, and identify a sign classification using a sign and traffic light density calculated using a total number of stop signs and traffic lights within a lookahead distance on the route, identify a road type classification using the sign classification, responsive to determining the sign and traffic light density within the lookahead distance is above a threshold indicative of a city road type classification, adjust a drivetrain of the vehicle to reduce engine operation and increasingly propel the vehicle via the electric machine.

    Abstract: An autonomous navigation system which enables autonomous navigation of a vehicle along one or more portions of a driving route based on monitoring, at the vehicle, various features of the route as the vehicle is manually navigated along the route to develop a characterization of the route. The characterization is progressively updated with repeated manual navigations along the route, and autonomous navigation of the route is enabled when a confidence indicator of the characterization meets a threshold indication. Characterizations can be updated in response to the vehicle encountering changes in the route and can include a set of driving rules associated with the route, where the driving rules are developed based on monitoring the navigation of one or more vehicles of the route. Characterizations can be uploaded to a remote system which processes data to develop and refine route characterizations and provide characterizations to one or more vehicles.

    Abstract: A vehicle system includes a plurality of devices and a controller. The plurality of devices are mounted on the vehicle, and each of the devices implements a function having a safety standard of a predetermined level set therein. The controller is capable of executing processing related to the safety standard on the devices, and includes a plurality of ECUs respectively allocated for the levels of the safety standards. The plurality of ECUs are respectively connected to the devices in which the safety standards of the allocated levels are set without being connected to the devices in which the safety standards of different levels are set, and execute, on the connected devices, processing related to the safety standards according to the allocated levels. Accordingly, the vehicle system can appropriately construct a system that secures safety.
