Abstract: A vehicle guidance system detects when a driver of the vehicle manually intervenes in the longitudinal and/or transverse guidance of the vehicle while the vehicle is being operated in an automated driving mode. The vehicle guidance system outputs an indication to the driver via a user interface of the vehicle prompting the driver to take over the longitudinal and/or transverse guidance of the vehicle. The vehicle guidance system also continues to provide the longitudinal and/or lateral guidance of the vehicle in at least a partially automated manner for a takeover period of time and/or for a takeover distance.

Abstract: Methods and systems autonomously parking and retrieving vehicles are disclosed. Available parking spaces or parking facilities may be identified, and the vehicle may be navigated to an available space from a drop-off location without passengers. Special-purpose sensors, GPS data, or wireless signal triangulation may be used to identify vehicles and available parking spots. Upon a user request or a prediction of upcoming user demand, the vehicle may be retrieved autonomously from a parking space. Other vehicles may be autonomously moved to facilitate parking or retrieval.

Abstract: An autonomous driving control method and apparatus of preventing accidents due to erroneous traffic light information during autonomous driving, may include determining an error of a traffic light by determining whether a first traffic light information item and a second traffic light information item that are acquired using different methods are different with respect to one traffic light, checking whether there is a nearby vehicle when determining the traffic light is erroneous, acquiring traffic light information from the nearby vehicle when there is the nearby vehicle, and controlling driving based on traffic light information acquired from the nearby vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed for providing remote assistance to autonomous vehicles. An example method can include navigating an autonomous vehicle (AV) to a facility and/or a location within the facility; determining an error condition encountered by the AV in the facility, the error condition including a failure to perform a maneuver in the facility and/or a restriction of the AV preventing the AV from performing the maneuver in the facility; in response to the error condition, initiating a switch of an operation of the AV from an autonomous operation to a human-controlled operation; receiving, from a human operator, an instruction for the AV to perform one or more maneuvers determined to resolve the error condition, wherein the one or more maneuvers include the maneuver or an alternative maneuver; and triggering the AV to perform the one or more maneuvers based on the instruction.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to testing situational awareness of a test driver tasked with monitoring the driving of a vehicle operating in an autonomous driving mode. For instance, a signal that indicates that the test driver may be distracted may be identified. Based on the signal, that a question can be asked of the test driver may be determined. A plurality of factors relating to a driving context for the vehicle may be identified. Based on the determination, a question may be generated based on the plurality of factors. The question may be provided to the test driver. Input may be received from the test driver providing an answer to the question.

Sensor data from audio sensors configured on a vehicle may be used to determine whether a threshold number of such sensors have detected sounds associated with a collision. Scores determined for the sensors based on audio energy and confidence values can be used to determine a location estimate for the detected collision.

Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, a computer-implemented method for generating or updating usage-based insurance policies for autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicles may be provided. A request to generate an insurance quote may be received via wireless communication, and with the customer's permission, risk levels associated with intended usage by the customer of an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be determined. An insurance policy may be adjusted based upon the risk levels and the intended vehicle usage. The insurance policy may then be presented on the customer's mobile device for review and approval. In some aspects, the vehicle may be rented, and the intended vehicle usage is measured in distance or duration of vehicle operation. Insurance discounts may be provided to risk averse vehicle owners based upon low risk levels.

The deceleration button is a button for decelerating the autonomous vehicle during the autonomous drive mode. The notification button is a button for performing notification to an outside of the autonomous vehicle.
