    摘要: A bi-fuel control system and assembly for modifying and operating a diesel engine to the extent that the engine is capable of running in either a full diesel fuel mode or a bi-fuel mode, where bi-fuel is defined as a mixture of a methane based gas and diesel fuel. The control system and assembly are designed to provide for either manual or automatic transfer between modes for continuous engine operation without interruption in output and at substantially equivalent efficiency levels. A gas control sub-system and sub-assembly are provided to control the amount of gas supplied to the diesel engine in the bi-fuel mode, and an electronic control sub-system and sub-assembly are provided to control the overall system and assembly based on engine load as determined from the intake manifold air pressure.

    摘要: A method for controlling delivery of fuel to each cylinder of an engine by adjusting the appropriate fuel valve duration times to each such cylinder based upon a predetermined detonation level. By using the detonation level measurements from each individual cylinder as a controlling parameter, the delivery of fuel to that particular cylinder can be trimmed to achieve the predetermined detonation level. Balancing the detonation level for each such cylinder to a common detonation level likewise produces a substantially identical air/fuel ratio in each such cylinder. The detonation control loop can be initiated at predetermined intervals so as to continuously maintain a balanced air/fuel ratio to each cylinder in any particular engine.

    摘要: A fuel pressure relief system for a dual fuel engine including at least one gaseous fuel admission valve positioned between a gaseous fuel inlet region and an air intake region is provided. The system includes a first pressure sensor positioned in the gaseous fuel inlet region and a second pressure sensor positioned in the air intake region. An electronic controller is connected to the first pressure sensor and the second pressure sensor. A gaseous fuel vent path extends between the gaseous fuel inlet region and a portion of an air intake path of the engine. A vent valve is positioned along the gaseous fuel vent path and is connected to the electronic controller for control thereby. When the differential pressure across the gaseous fuel admission valve exceeds a predetermined level the fuel vent valve is opened to relieve the pressure.

    摘要: An electronic control system controls pilot fuel injection quantity and timing to optimize primary fuel charge ignition. The system includes sensors monitoring engine operating conditions such as engine speed, power demand, intake air temperature, intake manifold pressure, knock, exhaust EGO concentration levels, fuel quality, etc., and a controller which is responsive to these sensors to actuate an electronically controlled pilot fuel injector to adjust pilot fuel injection timing and quantity as required for optimum primary charge ignition. The pilot fuel injector is preferably controlled such that pilot injection quantity is ordinarily increased with increases in air/fuel ratio and charge density and with decreases in engine speed and such that injection timing is ordinarily advanced with increases with engine speed and air/fuel ratio and with decreases in charge density. The controller is usable with virtually any gaseous fuel supply device and with both mechanically and hydraulically actuated electronically controlled pilot fuel injectors operating both with and without a prechamber.
