摘要: A method of and apparatus for continuously fabricating laminates formed of several layers of resin-impregnated material webs is carried out in combination with a double band press including a pair of endless press bands forming a pressing zone. Material webs free of resin are removed from a source and placed on a stretch of the run of at least one of the endless press bands at a location between a press outlet and a press inlet, and spaced from the pressing zone. The impregnation width and drying of the resin takes place at least partially on the stretch approaching the press inlet, that is before the pressure molding takes place. At the press inlet, the material webs are placed together formed a layered member and then are pressure molded, heated and/or cooled between coextensive stretches of the endless press bands to form the laminate. The resin is applied to the material webs from a resin applying device located between the press outlet and the press inlet outside of the pressing zone. The webs impregnated with the resin is guided along the stretch of the press band moving from the press outlet to the press inlet.

摘要: This invention relates to an improved flexible towpreg and a method of production therefor. The improved flexible towpreg comprises a plurality of towpreg plies which comprise reinforcing filaments and matrix forming material; the reinforcing filaments being substantially wetout by the matrix forming material such that the towpreg plies are substantially void-free composite articles, and the towpreg plies having an average thickness less than about 100 microns. The method of production for the improved flexible towpreg comprises the steps of spreading the reinforcing filaments to expose individually substantially all of the reinforcing filaments; coating the reinforcing filaments with the matrix forming material in a manner causing interfacial adhesion of the matrix forming material to the reinforcing filaments; forming the towpreg plies by heating the matrix forming material contacting the reinforcing filaments until the matrix forming material liquefies and coats the reinforcing filaments; and cooling the towpreg plies in a manner such that substantial cohesion between neighboring towpreg plies is prevented until the matrix forming material solidifies.

摘要: A method and apparatus for making continuous lengths of thermoplastics material fibers reinforced laminates by arranging layers of fibers reinforcement impregnated with a thermoplastics material in alignment with and between outer sheets of another material to form a stack and passing the stack through a tool having two opposing platens, one of which is movable relative to the other, and operating the tool so as to compress the stack and form a laminate. The stack is passed from entry to exit of the tool in steps, the extent of each of which is substantially less than the length of the tool such that each area of the stack is subjected to repeated compressions by the tool is passing therethrough. A recess is formed in one platen, which is adapted to receive a land formed on the other platen. The platens are differentially heated and/or cooled such that the temperature of the high temperature thermoplastics material impregnating the fibers of the stack is first raised to at least the melt temperature of the thermoplastic material, maintained for a time at that temperature and is then allowed to fall below that temperature. The faces of the platens are profiled such that the spacing between the opposing faces decreases along at least part of the length of the recess.

摘要: Apparatus for producing resin-impregnated fiber tow or strand in the form of prepreg tape. The apparatus includes unique coating wheels for sunface-coating the strand with molten, flowable resin and a kneading section to work the strand and disperse the molten resin uniformly among and between the individual fibers of the strand. The strand, after chilling, has good dimensional stability and is useful as prepreg in forming composite structures.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a member such as a reinforcing member for use in a tire includes steps of arranging wires in a predetermined spaced relationship one to the others by means of a guide plate, extending the wires about rolls of a winding type brake unit, and aligning the wires by passing them through a comb roll. The method further includes steps of engaging the wires between a pair of gears arranged immediately downstream of the comb roll and driven at equal speeds to be set in wave-shapes, arranging the wires in a belt-shape in an appropriate width as a whole by means of a concaved roll, extending the wires about flat rolls to cause the wave-shapes of the wires to fall down onto a plane, and then coating the wires with a rubber. The member of the tire thus produced is uniform in quality and has a large elongation and improved anti-cutting property.

摘要: Mobile continuous ditch lining apparatus includes a supporting portion, a raw material supplying portion, a mixing portion, a mixture delivery portion, a matrix forming portion and a control portion. The supporting portion includes at least one base section with a carriage. The raw material supplying portion includes a plurality of reservoirs connected independently with the mixing portion through flexible conduits. A blanket support extends from the supporting portion. The mixing portion includes an elongated chamber with a plurality of deflector sections. The matrix forming portion includes elongated mixture delivery and pressure applying mechanisms. The control portion includes a pump, a valve and a flow monitor along the length of each conduit, a drive advancing a continuous porous blanket through the matrix forming portion and a programmable memory.A method of forming a ditch liner includes dispensing continuously a solidifiable liquid mixture uniformly over a continuously moving porous blanket. Pressure is applied thereto to form a continuous matrix therein. The rate of advance of the blanket is coordinated with the flow rate of the liquid mixture and the pressure applied thereto. The resulting liner is laid into a ditch continuously while still deformable and conformed and set in the configuration thereof. Also, the product formed with the above apparatus and method.
