A process is provided for transferring and releasing substances which are air-sensitive or moisture-sensitive or light-sensitive, or air-sensitive and moisture-sensitive, or air-sensitive and light-sensitive, or moisture-sensitive and light-sensitive, or air-sensitive, moisture-sensitive and light-sensitive, at least one substance (20) which is air-sensitive or moisture-sensitive or light-sensitive, or air-sensitive and moisture-sensitive, or air-sensitive and light-sensitive, or moisture-sensitive and light-sensitive, or air-sensitive, moisture-sensitive and light-sensitive. The process comprises removing the substances after preparation under a protective gas atmosphere, from a synthesis chamber, wherein, during said removing, the substances are surrounded by at least one means (32, 34) for protecting the substances and then transferring the substances to at least one test reactor (50, 60), wherein the transfer takes place in a protective-gas-free chamber and at least one substance (20) is freed in the test reactor (50, 60) from the means (32, 34) protecting it using at least one apparatus or by means of at least one process.

The invention relates to a device for producing a predeterminable volume of components of solution mixtures with a metering device for the solution mixture, a separator that is downstream of said metering device and is intended to separate out undesired components contained in the solution mixture, and a vacuum unit for evaporating the solution mixture, which is precleaned in the separator, to the predetermined volume, whereby a conveyor having a predeterminable rate of flow is upstream of the separator and a device for preventing the flow rate of the conveyor from being affected by the vacuum present in the vacuum unit is upstream of the vacuum unit.

A method and apparatus for applying pressure to at least one reactant for delivery from a storage tank to a gas generating system has at least one pump. An operating medium for applying pressure to the reactants is delivered from the pump to the storage tank via a pipe system. The operating medium itself may also be delivered to a reaction chamber as a reactant of the gas generating system.

The present invention relates to conducting a plurality of chemical reactions in a system including an apparatus which provides energy for the chemical reactions, such as chemical reactions in organic synthesis, where a particular advantage is the use of predetermined reaction parameters corresponding to similar chemical reactions. The present invention also relates to a system for performing said method and to corresponding kits and software. The system comprises an apparatus which can provide energy for the chemical reactions, said apparatus comprising a reaction cavity and a liquid handler, and a parameter selecting unit having a user interface means, a search unit means, apparatus control unit means, and storage means for carrying a database.

The invention provides, among other things, bead dispenser for holding a charged bead and selectively dispensing the bead, the dispenser comprising: (a) a feeder channel having a lower outlet; (b) a bead selection escapement with a depression having an outer lip and located below the first lower outlet such that a bead exiting the lower outlet comes to rest in the depression; (c) a dispenser channel descending from the level of the lip, wherein the lip impedes a bead situated on the bead selection escapement from entering the dispenser channel; and a first dispensing electrode for creating an electromagnetic potential to pull or push the bead over the rim and into the dispenser channel.

Fluid sampling device comprising a sampling cell provided with a thermal control valve consisting of a plug made from a solid low-melting temperature alloy that is made permeable to the fluid by heating the metal alloy to its melting temperature. The device mainly comprises an intermediate cell with a central channel provided with a plug made from a low-melting temperature alloy which fits into the inlet hole of the sampling cell. A connecting device for connecting the two cells together and an element which connects the intermediate cell via a fine linking tube to a reactor producing the fluid to be sampled.

An integrated module with a heated reservoir to vaporize liquid for semiconductor processes with liquid sources is presented. Shut-off valves and a proportioning pressure valve for controlling the flow of the vapor from the reservoir are mounted on the module for simple conduction heating of the valves. A capacitance manometer also mounted to the module also has its own heating elements. Condensation of the vapor is avoided and consistence performance and reliability is obtained.

By combining electro-osmotic and electrohydrodynamic pumps in a microchannel, both polar and non-polar fluids can be moved along said channel. The pumps can be made from pairs of wire electrodes inserted into openings in the channel and connected to a source of a pulsed DC power. By reversing the voltages on alternate pairs of pumps, fluid flow can be reversed, thereby acting as a gate or valve. By using digital drivers, for example shift registers that can apply a signal to a switching device connected to an electrode by means of enabling and latch signals to an AND gate, control of flow in individual channels in an array of channels can be had with a high degree of integration, and provide for ready manufacturability.

The invention relates to a process for preparing solutions of oligomeric methylaluminoxanes, which contain trimethylaluminum in the free and/or complexed form, in hydrocarbons by partial hydrolysis of trimethylaluminum with water and to carrying out this process in a rotor/stator reaction machine.The product obtained is suitable for preparing highly active polymerization catalysts.
