Abstract: Click thiol-X monomers and polymers containing such monomers are disclosed. The clickable sequence controllable monomers include an optionally protected thiol moiety; an optionally protected Michael acceptor moiety; a primary functional side chain and one ore more secondary functional side chains. A clickable sequence controllable monomer, can have the structure: wherein independently Y and Z are atoms having a valence electrons of 3 or more; n is a integer from 0-10; m is a integer from 0-10; x is a integer from 0-10; PFS is a functional group SFSi; SFS2; and SFS3 are independently a combination of hydrogen, hydroxyl, aromatic, amine, carboxyl, and carbonyls, optionally substituted to form hydrophilic, hydrophobic, amphiphilic, or charged (positive or negative or both) side chains; T is an optionally protected thiol; and TCA is an optionally protected thiol-click acceptor. Methods of using such polymers are also disclosed.

The device also may include a stimulus delivery mechanism positioned between the proximal end and the distal end and an induction coil operably coupled to the stimulus delivery mechanism. Abstract: Modular IOL systems including a base and a lens, wherein the lens includes fixed and actuatable tabs for connection to the base. The modular IOL allows for the lens to be adjusted or exchanged while leaving the base in place, either intra-operatively or post-operatively. Drug delivery capabilities and/or sensing capabilities may be incorporated into the base. Injector devices may be used to facilitate placement of the base and the lens sequentially or simultaneously into the eye.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein concern a distraction system for use with a surgical table having a table portion and a base portion. The distraction system includes a pair of arms rotatably connectable to the base portion at a proximal end portion of each arm. A pair of telescopically adjustable support posts extend upwardly from corresponding arms. Each arm rotates about a vertically oriented axis to provide for hip adduction and abduction of a patient's leg. Each support post extends from a linear bearing attacked to the corresponding one of the pair of arms for movement along the arm to facilitate applying traction to a patient's leg. The system can also include a table extension attachable to the table portion and a friction pad mounted on the table extension.

Abstract: A microsurgical device and methods of its use can be used for treatment of various conditions including eye diseases, such as glaucoma, using minimally invasive surgical techniques. A dual-blade device can be used for cutting the trabecular meshwork (“TM”) in the eye. The device tip provides entry into the Schlemm's canal via its size (i.e., for example, 0.2-0.3 mm width) and configuration where a ramp elevates the TM away from the outer wall of the Schlemm's canal and guides the TM to first and second lateral elements for creating first and second incisions through the TM. The dimensions and configuration of the blade is such that an entire strip of TM is removed without leaving TM leaflets behind and without causing collateral damage to adjacent tissues.

Abstract: Disclosed are compositions and methods for detecting, isolating, and/or characterizing a T cell or autoantibody associated with type I diabetes. The composition and methods comprise the use of a hybrid insulin peptide having an N-terminal amino acid sequence taken from the human insulin peptide and a C-terminal amino acid sequence taken from a secretory granule protein that are joined through a peptide bond to form an autoimmune antigen. The detecting, isolating and characterization step further includes performing an immunoassay and/or T cell proliferation assay with the disclosed hybrid insulin peptides, where preferably, the immunoassay is an ELISPOT assay.
