    摘要: Disclosed is a solid state watch having an electro optical display which is selectively actuated by a gravity switch contained in the watch casing and positioned such that upon a displacement from a horizontal of the watch the display is actuated. A preferred embodiment utilizes a triangular-shaped cavity having a ball-shaped conductor movably contained therein for engaging a pair of electrical contacts within the cavity for coupling power to the display. Furthermore, the displacement of the watch from horizontal must also be within a selected orientation range. To prevent inadvertant actuations, a delay circuit is included such that the display is not actuated unless and until the gravity switch remains actuated for a first predetermined period of time. Further provided is a de-actuation circuit for de-actuating the display a predetermined period of time after the display has been actuated. An alternative to the de-actuation embodiment renders the display actuated only until the gravity switch is de-activated.

    摘要: An MOS/LSI semiconductor chip for providing the functions of an electronic calculator includes a data memory, an arithmetic unit for executing operations on data from the memory, and a control arrangement for defining the functioning of the machine including a ROM for storing a large number of instruction words, an instruction register for receiving instruction words from the ROM and reading out parts to various sections of the control arrangement, and an address register for selecting the location in the ROM for read out of the next instruction. Input and output terminals are provided for keyboard input, display output, timing signals, etc. A test mode of operation is provided for quality control upon completion of manufacture of the chip. The test mode allows the entire ROM to be tested by reading in addresses to the address register from external and reading out the resulting word from the instruction register. During the test mode, normal incrementing and branching of the address register may be externally inhibited.

    摘要: A solid state electrical switch of versatile and economical structure for use in starting a split-phase electrical motor incorporates a single cup-shaped dielectric casing open at one end. A first terminal disposed within the casing has integral spring portions bearing against the casing bottom and has a connector portion extending through the casing wall to receive connection from the starting winding of such a motor. A ceramictype resistor element of positive temperature coefficient of resistivity which displays a sharp increase in resistivity when it is heated to a selected temperature by directing electrical current through the resistor is disposed in engagement with the first terminal within the casing. A second terminal which has a heat-dissipating plate portion closing the open casing end and engaging the resistor element has a connector portion of the terminal extending through the casing wall for receiving connection from the main winding of such a motor, has quick connect tabs on the plate portion for line connection thereto and for fan motor connection when desired, and also has tabs extending through the casing and staked apart beneath the casing for securing the switch components securely together with the terminals resiliently pressed in firm electrical contact with opposite sides of the resistor element.

    摘要: A time-delay switch comprising a base, a first flexible switch arm cantilevered from the base and carrying a first contact on the free end thereof and a second flexible switch arm cantilevered from the base and carrying a second contact on the free end thereof engageable and disengageable with the first contact for making and breaking an electrical circuit. The switch also includes a thermal actuator comprising a bimetallic arm cantilevered from the base for flexing toward and away from the switch arms in response to changes in temperature, the first and second switch arms and the bimetallic arm being substantially parallel to and spaced from one another for flexing movement in a common plane and about spaced transverse axes for each of the arms lying in a plane substantially perpendicular to the common plane contiguous to the base. A coupling mechanically links the bimetallic arm and at least one of the switch arms to effect movement of the free end thereof relative to the base and to the other switch arm in response to flexing of the bimetallic arm between a closed position in which the first and second contacts are in engagement with one another for making the above-stated electrical circuit and an open position in which the contacts are clear of one another for breaking this circuit. The switch further includes a self-regulating heater interposed between the fixed ends of the bimetallic arm and the second switch arm and having opposed current-carrying faces respectively in electrical and thermal contact with the fixed ends of the second switch arm and with the bimetallic arm for heating the latter thereby to cause the bimetallic arm to flex and to thus effect movement of the contacts between their closed and open positions in delayed response to energization of said heater.

    摘要: Disclosed is a differentiator and variable threshold gate circuit utilized in a vehicle skid control braking system. The differentiator circuit is responsive to a first signal representing actual vehicle wheel speed and to a feedback signal provided by integrating the differential of the first signal to thereby approximate the first signal. The differentiator circuit provides first and second output signals respectively representing vehicle wheel acceleration and deceleration rates which actuate the variable threshold gate circuit. The variable threshold gate circuit comprises a voltage comparator which, in conjunction with a variable reference generator, provides first and second gated output signals respectively indicative of vehicle wheel acceleration and deceleration rates above a variable threshold level. The variable threshold level is provided by a comparison of the first and second output signals with a reference signal generated by the reference generator. The first and second gated output signals are generated at a lower acceleration/deceleration rate than at which they are inactivated. A hysteresis circuit responsive to the first and second gated output signals selectively biases the variable reference generator to thereby provide a lower threshold level and a more positive switching action.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to a method of forming a resistive film on a substrate formed of a metal having a coating of a ceramic oxide of the metal by the controlled heating and/or application of oxygen to the film producing system. Chromium is heated in a reduced pressure air atmosphere, containing the normal ratio of oxygen found in air, to a temperature at which the chromium will atomize. The chromium, which is electrically conductive and has a positive temperature coefficient of resistance, along with a chromium sub-oxide which is somewhat electrically conductive and has a negative temperature coefficient of resistance will deposit on ceramic substrates which are being continually rotated within a tumbler or the like within the partially evacuated system. The chromium sub-oxide along with small amounts of chromium will deposit on the ceramic with the ratio of chromium sub-oxide to chromium metal continually changing in favor of the metal as the oxygen in the atmosphere is used up. At a more elevated temperature, mainly chromium will deposit as the metal on the ceramic substrate after the oxygen has been substantially depleted. The amount of chromium metal deposited on the substrate is controlled by the temperature to which the chromium is heated as well as the length of time at which the chromium is above the temperature required for deposition thereof onto the ceramic substrate. In accordance with another embodiment, the amount of oxygen in the evacuated area can be controlled from an external source to control the amount of chromium sub-oxide which can be deposited upon the ceramic substrate. Also disclosed is the meta substrate having the ceramic oxide of the metal thereon. Aluminum with an anodized outer surface is specifically set forth. In addition, a flexible ceramic substrate is disclosed for use in the procedure for forming resistive coatings.

A logic array gated to the register is programmed selectively to enable A control lines leading to columns of heaters. A counter sequentially enables B control lines leading to rows of heaters. Control logic is responsive to a function code to initiate a printing operation in which a counter operates in response to a condition in the control logic to immobilize the control logic and to initiate B successive burn/cool cycles each followed by incrementing the row counter. Responsive to a final condition in the row counter, the control logic is again rendered operable.

    摘要: A system is disclosed for controlling the state of energization of a load responsive to an input control signal and includes a timing circuit for providing a predetermined time delay between the initiation of the control signal and a change in the state of energization of the load. The system includes a time delay network having an interconnected resistor and capacitor and an input switch coupled to the capacitor for effecting charging and discharging thereof responsive to the initiation of the control signal. A voltage sensing switch means is coupled to the capacitor for sensing the voltage thereacross in order to produce an energizing signal systematically related to this voltage level. A voltage comparison means having a pair of input terminals and an output terminal is provided. One of the input terminals is adapted to receive a bias signal for maintaining the comparison means in a de-energized state and a second input terminal is coupled to the voltage sensing device for receiving the energizing signal. The comparison means is energized only when the energizing signal is of a sufficient magnitude relative to the bias signal applied in order to provide an output signal responsive to energization thereof, while a selectively operable output switch means is coupled to the output terminal of the comparison means and to the load for controlling the state of energization of the load.

    摘要: A time delay capsule has a tubular housing to be mounted within a coil in a magnetic relay or the like and has a core which is movable in the housing when the coil is energized for increasing the magnetic field established by the coil to the level necessary for actuating the relay. A spring normally biases the core to one end of the housing and a liquid in the housing retards core movement in response to coil energization, thereby to provide a time delay after coil energization before actuation of the relay occurs. The core and spring are arranged with respect to means sealing the liquid within the housing to permit easy capsule assembly and to assure precise and reliably predetermined core movement within the capsule.
